LCSW, 8 years of experience
Hi my name is Mckensie. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I recognize the power of listening and being present when things get difficult, while also making room for what feels light and good. I work to create an atmosphere where you can feel at ease and start where you are. Healing happens when you feel supported and safe to explore all of your parts. I believe that can be done with real honest work and a good sense of humor.
In our first session you will have the space to share what brings you into therapy and what you hope to gain from the experience. You are welcome to share about your life, or you can jump into whatever you need at the moment. Use the time however you want to. Therapy should be a place where you can take a deep breath, we have time, the first session doesn't need to be overwhelming.
I have deep understanding for the things that make us human. I find the places where we can connect and relate to things we often feel completely alone in. My approach to therapy is to make It worth your time, with real work and outcomes, while staying grounded in supporting you to feel known, heard, and understood.
I help individuals motivated to heal from traumatic experiences, those seeking healthy connections in their relationships, growth in themselves, or wanting relief from anxiety in all its forms.
I use ACT to support clients experiencing mood challenges like anxiety, depression or emotional overwhelm. Through mindful awareness of thought and emotions you are able to find clarity and make value based decisions.
EFT helps to support understanding patterns of attachments in relationships and areas of past wounds. Through attunement and awareness It builds growth in secure relationships and healing connections to self and others.
IFS is a powerful compassionate approach to healing that helps you connect with different parts of yourself. I use IFS to gently explore these inner parts, especially those shaped by trauma.
I do not do EMDR, similarly I use a evidence based method called Accelerated Resolution Therapy or (ART) that uses eye movements (similar to EMDR) to help clients reprocess traumatic or distressing memories that reduces emotional and phsysiological reactivity. ART is considered a memory reconsolidating and imagery rescripting therapy.
