Hi! I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in California. I received my Masters from Azusa Pacific University and have been practicing for 6 years. I've worked the most with young adults and adolescences having taught high school for the last 11 years as well. I've helped with most issues people of the age range face and help them become the best versions of themselves. I've gone through a small variety of careers myself and stumbled across being a therapist, something I didn't realize I would enjoy as much as I do. Before attending Azusa I went to Franciscan University of Steubenville and The Augustine Institute. Originally set out for a career in TV and radio, life took me on a different path.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions. We'll talk about the highs, the lows, and the buffalos (my spouse's way of describing a weird or unexpected experience).

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having primarily worked with young adults and adolescents for the past 6 years, I've found that an honest no-nonsense kind of approach can be refreshing and healing. Many people seem to have experiences with therapists that don't feel very "human," and some of my favorite comments have been, "You're so normal!" Part of my method as a therapist is, in many ways, similar approaches of those that have helped me in the past.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

While I have worked a lot with this age group I have also helped married couples, and adults of all ages including those in their 70s. Some of my favorite experiences are healthy people looking for some extra growth, purpose, or simply hitting a "lull" in their life. I have found that clients who are eager to improve, but don't yet have the tools needed to make this goal a reality, tend to get the most out of their sessions but I understand that can be difficult if this is your first experience with therapy. People can often feel stuck, overwhelmed and anxious even when it comes to sessions but that can be very normal and part of the process too.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

An evidence based therapy that has seen to have a lot of positive results. It's very practice and logical and when combined with an Adlerian model I have seen it have a lot of great effects with clients. I found myself utilizing this method even before my training as a therapist. It also has a lot of great tools to utilize starting on day one.

Adlerian

I really like the way it combines elements of psychodynamic therapy with compassion based methods. It also naturally uses elements of attachment based theories and how it uses past trauma and experiences to understand how we conceptualize and manage current issues and anxieties. I particularly like the positive and supportive way the therapist encourages the client and also utilizes elements of solution focused therapies.

Christian Counseling

As a Christian who has always been active in their faith scripture and understanding one's identity in Christ has always been very important to me as a clinician and as a client/patient myself. As Christ is the ultimate healer it has always made sense to utilize that with clients that ask for that and come from similar perspectives.
