Hello, I am a board-certified Psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner compassionate about people. As a distinguished healthcare professional with a profound commitment to excellence and a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree, I am a highly skilled and certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) and Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) with expertise that extends beyond traditional healthcare. I firmly believe in the intricate connections between mental health and the multifaceted aspects of an individual's life with a strong desire to help people become stronger and better versions of themselves.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Throughout my years of experience in health care, from critical care to mental health, one thing is certain, patients know themselves more than anyone else and, in this practice, the patient is in partnership with the provider to provide optimal care that upholds their individual uniqueness. Utilizing both prescribed medications and therapy, I take a holistic approach in treatment and this multi-faceted approach optimizes mental health care to improve patients' overall health and mental wellness, which continues throughout follow-up visits.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a doctorally-prepared provider, with a wealth of experience in medication management, I was first a bedside RN in intensive critical care units, meaning you’re in great care. Mind empowerment and being empathetic to patients is crucial. My greatest strength is my compassion to mental health and helping people build strong minds using tried and true psychiatric concepts including mindfulness-based therapy. Recognizing the profound impact of environmental influences, life experiences, childhood and adult traumas, cultural backgrounds, and chemical imbalances, I am dedicated to providing holistic care that addresses the complexities of mental well-being. My unwavering passion for fostering holistic health and well-being sets me apart as a compassionate and insightful professional in the realm of healthcare.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I work with people across life span from childhood to geriatrics with emphasis on building strong minds. I am very compassionate about young people because of the high predisposition to stress due the overwhelming nature of witnessing potential independence in a world of uncertainties, pressures and expectations, which might often lead to stress and confusion. They might feel unsure of their values, and future direction in the world. Unfortunately, mental health is not in isolation, but part of a whole being influenced by environmental factors, life experiences, trauma from childhood to adulthood, cultural backgrounds, and chemical imbalances, which is mostly amplified in childhood and young adulthood.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness-based training (MBT) can restore mental well-being in the most vulnerable. The intensive care units (ICUs) are among the most stressful working environments and ICU nurses face prolonged exposure to stressful work environments can lead to burnout and other psychological issues. When MBT was applied, there was a significant effect on stress reduction due to better management of stress, pain, and other health conditions including a sense of well-being, and sexual health, in addition to decreasing psychiatric symptoms and improving psychosocial functioning.
