New to Grow
I am Heather M. Bowman, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 16 years of experience supporting individuals through trauma, life transitions, anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges. I provide a compassionate, inclusive, and trauma-informed space where clients can explore their experiences, build resilience, and develop tools for meaningful change. Outside of my clinical work, I have a deep appreciation for nature, poetry, avant-garde and classic cinema, and meaningful films that explore the human experience. I also have a deep appreciation for music and sound as powerful pathways for connection, reflection, and healing. I am a Reiki Master-Teacher and sound healing practitioner, which reflects my holistic perspective and appreciation for the connection between mind, body, and overall well-being. I believe music and sound can reach places beyond words, supporting emotional expression, mindfulness, relaxation, and deeper healing. I bring both clinical expertise and a genuine curiosity about each person's unique story into my work with clients.
During the first session, clients can expect an authentic, safe, supportive, and collaborative space where we begin getting to know one another, discuss their goals for therapy, and explore the challenges bringing them in. We will review relevant history, identify patterns and strengths, and begin developing an understanding of the factors impacting their well-being. I incorporate psychoeducation and practical coping tools when appropriate, while building a strong therapeutic relationship based on trust, compassion, and collaboration. My goal is for clients to leave feeling heard, supported, and with a clearer path toward healing, growth, and meaningful change.
I bring warmth, compassion, and authenticity into each session while creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard and understood. I combine clinical expertise with a holistic, integrative perspective that honors the whole person—mind, body, emotions, and lived experiences. My approach stands out through the balance of evidence-based treatment, trauma-informed care, and genuine therapeutic connection. I focus on building strong rapport, providing psychoeducation, identifying patterns, and helping clients develop practical tools for healing and growth. I believe each person has inherent strengths and resilience, and I work collaboratively with clients to support meaningful, lasting change at a pace that feels right for them.
Other specialties
I identify as
Trauma Informed Care
I use a trauma-informed approach by creating a safe, collaborative, and empowering therapeutic environment. I recognize the impact of trauma, prioritize emotional safety and trust, and tailor treatment to each client's pace while building resilience and supporting healing.
Psychoeducation
I use psychoeducation to help clients better understand their symptoms, emotional responses, and behavior patterns. By providing clear, accessible information about trauma, anxiety, and coping mechanisms, I support clients in making sense of their experiences and building practical skills for change.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT to help clients identify unhelpful thought patterns and cognitive distortions, challenge and reframe them, and develop healthier ways of thinking. We also practice applying these skills in everyday situations to support lasting emotional and behavioral change.
EMDR
I use EMDR and somatic interventions to help clients process and integrate stressful and traumatic memories in a safe and structured way. This includes working with bilateral stimulation and body-based awareness to reduce distress, support nervous system regulation, and promote adaptive resolution of traumatic experiences.
Motivational Interviewing
I use Motivational Interviewing to help clients explore ambivalence, strengthen internal motivation, and identify personally meaningful reasons for change. This includes using open-ended questions, reflective listening, and collaborative goal-setting to support autonomy and commitment to action.
