I have 35 years of professional counseling experience across a variety of settings with a variety of clients. I am a veteran which gives me a unique abiity to treat members of the military community. I believe people are growth oriented and as such have the ability to learn to improve their life with the guidance of a skilled professional counselor. I give every client my 100% focus as I look at them holistically, assess their strengths, set goals, and collaborativey work towards achieving their goals in a timely manner.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first session will include: (1) a brief overview of my training and experience, (2) a review to ensure we have all the required forms completed, (3) an overview of the importance of being organized, on time, completing counseling assignments, and the value of working hard towards one's goals, and (4) the bulk of the time is set aside for the client to tell me as much as they are comfortable with.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I approach all clients the same way, focusing on client strengths, colaborating with clients, expressing empathy, and a commitment to working hard to create positive change for the client. i think being organized improves efficiency so each session will begin with agenda setting and each session will end with a summary.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have 25 years of experience using CBT. I trained at the Philadelphia College of Ostepathic Medicine. I use CBT to help clients identify and explore the impact of their thoughts and beliefs on their mental health.

Humanistic

Humanistic is more of an approach to the counseling process than a method. I employ the humanstic approach to initiate, build, and maintain the critical counselor/client working relationship.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

SFBT is a strength oriented approach that lends itself with the humanistic approach. Clients live in a fast-paced world so they do not have months and years to spend in therapy. Employing SFBT allows me and the client to build a therapuetic alliance and get to work on improving their life.
