Welcome. I am a Virginia-Licensed Professional Counselor dedicated to helping individuals find relief from life’s most pressing challenges, including relationship difficulties, parenting stressors, identity struggles, depression, grief, and anxiety. My diverse clinical background spans private practice, community agencies, and intensive in-home services, allowing me to effectively support clients across the lifespan—from young children to older adults. Clients frequently describe my therapeutic style as warm, professional, and appropriately humorous, creating an approachable environment where meaningful change can happen. To ensure my clients achieve measurable relief, I utilize EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) alongside traditional therapeutic modalities. This specialized training allows me to successfully guide clients through healing from trauma and reducing severe anxiety and depressive symptoms. I invite you to reach out today to discuss how we can partner in your wellness journey.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Starting therapy can feel intimidating, which is why I prioritize your comfort from day one. In our first session, we will review what brought you here at a pace that feels right to you—whether you want to share every detail or keep it concise. While I’ll ask a few more questions than usual during this initial meeting to understand your history and goals, our future sessions will be a collaborative, natural conversation focused on your healing. Let’s connect and see how we can work together.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My approach tends to be warm, soft, and gentle as I make space for you to share at your own pace. While it may sometimes be necessary to challenge your thoughts or beliefs, I always bring a curious mindset to help you view your perspective from new angles. In addition, I welcome humor into our sessions to break the ice and make complex information easier to digest.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal client is an adult or young adult navigating anxiety, burnout, or the lingering impact of past trauma who is ready to actively engage in their healing journey. They thrive in a collaborative environment and are looking for a therapist who is genuinely warm, down-to-earth, and authentic. In our work together, they are willing to talk openly through their challenges while also being motivated to practice new coping skills outside of our weekly sessions. By integrating evidence-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to address daily thought patterns and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to process deeper, unresolved trauma, we work as a team to help them break free from old cycles and build lasting resilience.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT techniques in session as a way to identify your thought patterns, emotions, and behaviors. By using this approach, it tends to enlighten both the client and me in recognizing inner beliefs for what drives your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. From there, I can help you recognize unhelpful thought patterns and how those are connected with other areas of your life. Then I may gently challenge or assist you in finding alternative ways to view the struggle you are facing.

EMDR

As a trained EMDR therapist, I use this approach to help my clients process difficult memories or moments in life that have continued to add distress to your current day situation. I share resources and education about EMDR prior to beginning this method of therapy. I focus first on establishing coping resources for your emotions to help you stabilize and manage feelings that can arise from the processing phase. Once you have found coping skills that work to alleviate your symptoms, I will collaborate with you on where you want to start in working on your distressing memories. I aim to process with you at your pace. I will also guide you in grounding yourself at the end of those processing sessions.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I am a person-centered therapist who believes that you know yourself better than anybody else (including professionals). By applying this approach, I view my work as walking this journey alongside you to help you find the barriers to your healing. I will collaborate with you to find what methods work best for you and to keep your goals as the priority.
