LCMHC, 17 years of experience
Hello and welcome to Grow Therapy! My name is Jennifer. I have both Master’s and Education Specialist degrees in Counseling, with a specialization in Couples and Family. After many years of therapy practice, I went back to school and, in 2019, graduated with a BSN in Nursing. I’ve worked as a licensed therapist in North Carolina for 17 years. I work frequently with difficult relationship dynamics whether in families or among romantic partners. I do quite a bit of work in trauma recovery, anxiety and stress reduction, resiliency-building, and identity development. Mine is a holistic, positive, supportive approach that promotes self-awareness and the interruption of unhelpful patterns of thought and behavior that lead to being "stuck". I teach mindfulness, yogic interventions and encourage gratitude and curiosity in my clients! In my spare time I enjoy hiking, dancing on my roller skates, beekeeping and chasing my dog and kids! I hope we are a good fit and look forward to connecting with you.
We will start with getting to know each other. Nothing is off-limits as far as concerns to bring up or questions to ask. We will discuss the factors that will ensure your success, including how to get the most out of your efforts and our time together.
Though I have a very diverse educational and professional portfolio, compassion is my greatest strength, hands down. I love people and also love helping people.
I'm a good fit for those who are struggling to understand themselves as well as those who continue to meet obstacles in creating the kind of lives and relationships they'd like. Presenting concerns may include (C)PTSD/trauma, anxiety, depression, intense anger, difficulty coping with life's transitions, challenges within relationships, and poor body image (with or without eating concerns).
I am a specialist in abuse recovery, particularly narcissistic and scapegoat abuse. Abuse is a relational trauma resulting in C-PTSD, which is my primary expertise.
In addition to being a therapist with 17 years of experience, I am a registered nurse, educator and yoga teacher. I use interpersonal, CBT, ACT, DBT, NLP, Jungian psychology, compassion-focused, somatic and value-based theories primarily. I bring each of these areas of expertise to my sessions and will employ any means I (or you) may find helpful in guiding your understanding and ultimately resolving the concerns you have.
I am a registered nurse and also have a certification in yoga for behavioral health. In addition to my knowledge of health and the human body, my practice includes interventions and techniques derived from yogic, polyvagal and psychosomatic theories. These types of therapy include physical interventions, or exercises, including simple yoga asanas (poses), breath work, sound-making, meditation, self-massage and stretches to enhance your sense of connection to and safety within your body. These techniques are wonderful for anyone with a trauma history, clients wishing to reduce general anxiety and/or depression and those who find "talk therapy" triggering, unhelpful or occasionally overwhelming.

Jennifer is very warm and understanding. Allowing me the opportunity to talk about things I've either not had the people to listen, nor unwilling to understand. For the first time in my life I feel the weight lessening.

Jennifer is warm and empathetic and fosters a safe and comfortable environment where her clients can feel accepted and validated. She takes the time to really get to know you and empowers you to explore your experiences, share your truth, and lovingly challenge your negative self-talk. She gave me invaluable advice and support that helped me to reconnect with my values and my worth. I'd highly recommend her to anyone, but especially those struggling with trauma, abuse, or toxic relationships.

Jennifer was very welcoming, easy to talk to, and comforting. I left our session feeling a feeling of peace and hope. Looking forward to my next session with her.
