My name is Rebecca Faulkner and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the states of Alabama, Florida, Vermont, and Virginia. My goal is to help those suffering from depression, anxiety, relationship issues, career challenges, and life stressors learn positive coping strategies and dive into the root causes in order to find the wellness and quality of life everyone deserves. I offer availability during the day, early evenings, and weekends in order to help make therapy services accessible for most without time barriers. I have had success working with individuals from youth, teens, and young adults to the aging population and the elderly. I am thankful for every opportunity I get to have an impact on their lives and it is my pleasure to hold space for anyone who needs it.
During our first session, we will meet and mutually address the goals of therapy. We will discuss what works for you and what does not so we do not reinvent the wheel. You will leave the session with tangible tools to start your journey towards wellness!
My biggest strength is connection and empathy during the sessions. I use the phrase "the casual is clinical" to describe my therapeutic style because, for me, the best work comes when it feels like you're just conversing with a close friend or relative and are less focused on the specific treatment modalities; leave that part to me! I love joining the system for the time we work together, while also maintaining the professional boundaries needed in this therapeutic relationship.

REBT helps people identify and challenge their irrational beliefs. It also teaches them how to develop more rational and helpful beliefs. REBT is a type of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). CBT is a type of therapy that focuses on changing thoughts and behaviors.REBT is often used to treat anxiety, depression, and other mental health problems. It can also be helpful for people who are struggling with relationship problems or work-related stress.
MBSR was developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn in the 1970s. He defined mindfulness as "paying attention in a particular way: on purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgmentally." MBSR is based on the idea that by being more mindful, we can learn to better manage our stress and emotions.
One of the most important aspects of humanistic therapy is the emphasis on authenticity. As Brené Brown says, "The opposite of authenticity is fitting in." In other words, humanistic therapy encourages people to be themselves, rather than trying to conform to the expectations of others.
When difficult experiences get 'stuck,' they can keep affecting us through uncomfortable body sensations and emotions. In our sessions, we'll use techniques like gentle tapping while you focus on these inner sensations. This helps your mind and body process and release that stored emotional energy. By doing this, we're essentially helping to create new, healthier connections in your brain, linking those stuck experiences with your natural strengths and more helpful perspectives, so they no longer feel so overwhelming.
I use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to help clients process stuck memories and feelings when traditional therapy hasn't worked. This method uses bilateral stimulation (like eye movements), amongst other things, to help the brain naturally reprocess distressing experiences, reducing their emotional impact and leading to lasting relief and breakthroughs!
