PMHNP, 8 years of experience
I am a board-certified psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner, and a doctor of nursing practice who has extensive years of psychiatric experience, dedicated to providing care for individuals across the lifespan; from young adults to older adults facing diverse mental health challenges. My practice encompasses a holistic approach that considers the physical, emotional, and social aspects. Beyond my clinical practice, I actively engage in community outreach, public speaking, and mental health education.
In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions. Together, we will identify your challenges and goals - where you want your life to be in a month, six months, a year from now. Then, we'll identify options and strategies you can use to get there. You'll leave the session with a better understanding of what you're facing with an "actions I can take right now" approach.
My approach is deeply rooted in empathy and respect for each patient's unique experiences and challenges. I believe that the therapeutic relationship between a provider and patient is the cornerstone of effective psychiatric care, and I prioritize building trust and open communication with every individual I serve. I understand that mental health is a complex and deeply personal journey, and I am here to walk alongside you, offering support and guidance every step of the way.
I am certified to assess, diagnose, and treat individuals struggling with a wide range of mental health conditions, from mood disorders like depression and bipolar disorder to severe mental illnesses such as schizophrenia. I am dedicated to offering you the most effective and personalized treatment options using evidence-based practices.
By integrating CBT into my practice as a psychiatric nurse practitioner, patients are empowered to take an active role in their mental health treatment and facilitate meaningful and lasting improvements in their well-being.

She was very kind and honest with me about what she does as a nurse practitioner. Although I am considering medication management in the future, she did not push me to try medication now. Instead she referred me to a therapist who could help me better at the moment.
