Hello! I'm a licensed clinical social worker in Delaware. I first earned an M.S. in Counseling from Villanova University and then a Master's in Social Work from Widener University. With extensive training in trauma therapy and experience in practicing hypnotherapy, I have spent over 25 years helping clients manage symptoms of trauma, anxiety, and depression, as well as navigate life transitions. I enjoy working with both younger and older adults, ensuring a supportive and understanding environment for everyone I work with.
In our first session, we will take the time to get to know each other and review confidentiality. You will have the opportunity to share your current concerns and what you hope to achieve. I'll also gather some background information to start understanding your unique experience. Together, we'll set your initial goals and begin planning how to achieve them.
I get along great with adults of all ages and am very approachable. With years of practice and training, I'm adept at uncovering root issues and helping you to understand how your past influences your present. Together, we can explore why you're feeling and thinking the way you are, and I can provide you with tools to make meaningful changes.
As a trained and certified hypnotherapist I am able to give clients the tools to reduce anxiety, improve motivation and do deeper trauma work aimed and reducing shame and healing the inner child.
By teaching clients to stay present through mindfulness practices they can learn to be less reactive and manage triggers. Clients are taught to use both formal and informal mindfulness practices in their daily lives.
I have been treating trauma and training in various aspects of trauma for more than 25 years. All of my therapy is done through the lens of trauma and utilize evidenced based interventions and takes a mind-body approach.
CBT is one of the cornerstones of the work I do with clients. I incorporate it with mindfulness and a mind body approach. When we can manage our thoughts we can manage our feelings and behavior.
Although trained in EMDR I do not currently practice it. However, I do believe in the top/down and bottom/up approach to trauma therapy. This means that while CBT is important, it is also important to attend to calming the nervous system and reducing the emotional reactivity that begins in the body. I incorporate knowledge of the way trauma impacts the brain, somatic therapy techniques, and polyvagal theory into my clinical work.
