I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor with 3 years of experience in the field of therapy. I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology, as well as an Educational Specialist degree in Counselor Education from the University of South Carolina. I also have 16 years of experience working in school settings, primarily as a School Counselor. During this time, I did extensive work with children and families in assisting with children’s academic, career, personal and social development.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During my first session with a client, I work on building rapport by asking the client questions in order to get to know them and ensure a comfortable and safe space for them. Then we talk about the personal challenges that they are experiencing, so that we can formulate some goals that we want to accomplish together in order to help them effectively cope with those specific challenges.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

With my 3 years of experience as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, combined with my 16 years of experience as an educator--I have composed effective coping strategies for various mental health struggles. Also, I provide a nonjudgmental environment in which most of my clients have always appreciated and felt comfortable enough to be fully transparent.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) by identifying patterns of thinking and behavior that may be contributing to the client's struggles. In identifying these patterns, I assist the client in learning skills that will help them to reshape their thought patterns into more effective and positive thought patterns--which can lead to effective and positive behavioral patterns as well.

Grief Therapy

I work with clients who are experiencing grief and loss--the loss of a loved one or multiple love ones in a short period of time, loss of a job, loss of a relationship or marriage, and various other types of personal loss. I help the client learn strategies in coping with their specific grief journey by educating them on the stages of grief and the complexities that these stages may cause.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I work with clients on establishing on establishing personal boundaries as needed. I also help guide the client to lead as much as possible and become their own expert.

Multicultural

When working with clients of various multicultural backgrounds, I utilize therapeutic techniques that take into account the client's personal beliefs and values.

Trauma-Focused CBT

I work with clients--according to their individual needs and goals--through exposure therapy, cognitive restructuring, trauma narrative processing and other effective therapeutic techniques.
