I have a Masters in Professional Counseling, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor, a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, I am certified in DBT, ADHD, Personality Disorders, and in EMDR. I work with my clients using my whole heart as you are likely seeking help due to suffering from adverse childhood experiences, large or small, that continue to impact you today. Trauma rears itself in our daily lives. It becomes the template to which we experience the world. You no longer have to live that way. Let me walk with you. Let me guide you.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

When describing what clients can expect in their first session, I cover the following key points: 1. Introduction and rapport building: You'll start by introducing yourself while I create a welcoming atmosphere to help the client feel comfortable. 2. Paperwork and confidentiality: There will be some initial paperwork, including informed consent forms, and a discussion about confidentiality and its limits. 3. Assessment: I'll gather information about the client's background, current concerns, and goals for therapy. 4. Explanation of your approach: I will briefly outline my therapeutic approach and how I typically work with clients. 5. Client's story: I'll provide space for the client to share their story and reasons for seeking therapy. 6. Goal setting: I'll work together to establish initial goals for therapy. 7. Questions and concerns: Explain that you'll encourage the client to ask any questions they may have about the therapy process. 8. Next steps: Outline what the client can expect moving forward, including scheduling future sessions and any between-session tasks. 9. Session length: Clarify the typical duration of sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strengths are empathy and ability to build rapport, active listening skills, knowledge of various therapeutic modalities, cultural competence, ability to tailor approaches to individual client needs, professional ethics and boundaries, as well as continual learning and professional development.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I help clients with family of origin issues, trauma, neglect, and abuse. I'm trained in EMDR, Trauma, Addiction, and Mental Health. As your therapist, I will help you to discover your true self, to break free from your trauma, and become the person you are truly meant to be.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is used in my practice in that I start by educating clients about the CBT model, emphasizing the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Then I teach clients to identify and challenge negative thought patterns using techniques like cognitive restructuring. Next is to incorporate behavioral strategies such as exposure therapy, activity scheduling, and relaxation exercises. Finally, I use homework assignments to reinforce skills learned in sessions and promote real-world application.

Compassion Focused

In Compassion Focused therapy, I Introduce the concept of the three emotion regulation systems: threat, drive, and soothing. I help clients understand how their early experiences have shaped these systems. I teach mindfulness and compassion-focused imagery exercises to develop the soothing system. I guide clients in cultivating self-compassion and addressing their inner critic.

Trauma Informed Care

Using Trauma Informed Care, I begin by creating a safe, trustworthy environment and establishing clear boundaries. Then we work together to recognize the widespread impact of trauma and understand potential paths for recovery. Next we actively seek to avoid re-traumatization by being sensitive to triggers and allowing clients control over their pace. Finally, I empower clients by offering choices and fostering a sense of collaboration in the therapeutic process while using a strengths-based perspective to help clients identify and build upon their resilience and coping skills.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I am certified in DBT. The general process is t introduce the core DBT skills: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. Then I teach clients to balance acceptance and change strategies while incorporating mindfulness practices into sessions to help clients stay present and non-judgmental. Then I use validation techniques to acknowledge clients' experiences while encouraging positive change.

EMDR

I am certified in EMDR. Treatment begins by assessing client readiness and developing a treatment plan focused on specific traumatic memories or distressing experiences. I teach clients self-soothing techniques for emotional regulation. Use the 8-phase EMDR protocol, starting with history-taking and preparation, then moving to desensitization using bilateral stimulation (eye movements, taps, or sounds). EMDR guides clients through reprocessing traumatic memories while maintaining dual awareness of past and present.
