Denis Grigorov

PMHNP (he/him)3 years of experience

Hi, I’m Denis, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and the owner of D&Y Integrated Psychiatry clinic. Before becoming a psychiatric provider, I served in the U.S. military for 10 years and later worked in a busy emergency department. Those experiences shaped the way I care for my patients today. I understand how easy it can be to stay focused on the mission, the job, or everyone else while putting your own mental health aside. I am fluent in English, Russian, and Ukrainian, which allows me to provide care in the language you feel most comfortable speaking. This can be especially meaningful for immigrants and first-generation clients who may find it easier to describe their experiences, symptoms, and concerns in their native language. I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, insomnia, trauma-related symptoms, attention difficulties, and mood concerns. I have a particular interest in supporting veterans, service members, first responders, healthcare professionals, and others who work in high-stress environments. My approach is practical, collaborative, and personalized, combining medication management, education, and brief CBT-informed strategies.

First session

Our first session is a chance for me to get to know you beyond a list of symptoms. We will talk about what has been bothering you, how it is affecting your work, sleep, relationships, and daily life, and what you hope to get out of treatment. We will also review your medical and psychiatric history, medications, previous treatment experiences, and anything else that may be contributing to how you feel. For veterans, first responders, and healthcare professionals, I also understand that stress may show up as poor sleep, irritability, feeling constantly on alert, emotional exhaustion, or difficulty switching off after work. Together, we will discuss your treatment options and create a plan that feels realistic and manageable for you.

Strengths

I bring a calm, straightforward, and nonjudgmental approach to my sessions. My military and emergency department backgrounds have taught me how important it is to listen carefully, stay grounded, and understand what someone is going through before jumping to conclusions. I also know that many people in demanding careers are used to pushing through symptoms and may not feel comfortable asking for help. My goal is to create a space where you can speak openly without feeling judged or misunderstood. I take time to explain diagnoses, medications, benefits, risks, and alternatives so that you feel involved in your care rather than simply being told what to do.

Ideal clients

My ideal client is an adult experiencing concerns such as depression, anxiety, insomnia, trauma-related symptoms, attention difficulties, or mood changes who is seeking thoughtful psychiatric evaluation and medication management. I work best with clients who are open to collaboration, willing to discuss their symptoms honestly, and interested in understanding how medication, sleep, stress, habits, and coping patterns affect their mental health. My goal is to help clients gain diagnostic clarity, improve daily functioning, and develop a practical, individualized treatment plan that may include medication, psychoeducation, and brief CBT-informed strategies.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT-informed interventions to help patients recognize unhelpful thought patterns, understand how thoughts affect emotions and behaviors, and develop healthier coping strategies.
