I am Caitlin, a licensed mental health counselor who is trained in multiple trauma techniques and has years of experience working with both adult and adolescents. I work hard to help my clients create positive and healthy change in their lives and sustain that healthiness. I believe all deserve to be accepted and understood no matter what they may struggle with and I work to provide a safe and caring space.
In our first session clients will take an intake assessment that asks a series of questions concerning their social, psychological and biological background. This helps me as the clinician better understand my clients needs and what are driving those needs. Then we will talk about these needs together to develop a treatment plan with goals and objectives the client will work to meet.
I believe my greatest strength as a counselor is having the insight of what it is like to be a client not just sitting in the other side of the chair. I too have done therapy and worked on myself to be the healthy person today and that allows me an understanding not just from a text book. I have great empathy for my clients while also am able to hold boundaries that help them grow in their journey. I have a love of what I do so going to work for me is not just work but a life’s purpose that I whole heartedly believe in.
I love work with adolescents and adults who are struggling with mood disorders, personality disorders, or trauma and want help to create healthier patterns of living for themselves. I will work with these clients to teach them tools to aid in sustaining mental health and wellness.
I use CBT methods to aid clients in every day life skills and to learn how to cope in a healthy manner through understanding their thoughts (cognitions) and their actions (behaviors) and how creating a balance between the two aids in health patterns of living.
I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy to aid clients in creating mindfulness in their daily practices that lend toward healthy patterns of living.
I have worked for many years now to aid clients who need gender-affirming care to feel heard, seen, understood, and accepted.
I have worked with a majority of my clients on current and last trauma working toward releasing and healing.
