Imagine a place where you are free to be your true self, a place where you can share your thoughts and be vulnerable without the fear of judgment. How would it feel to be seen, heard and understood? Hello, I am Ruth and as a therapist, I strive to create a space like this because this is where true healing and growth happen. We all have different life experiences and sometimes figuring out how to handle and cope with those experiences is challenging but you don't have to do it alone! Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, grief, chronic stress, trauma, struggling with relationships or a life transition, change is possible. Through our work together I want to help you meet your goals and start living the life you have envisioned. I'll meet you with compassion and evidence-based techniques so you can overcome hurdles and habits that are holding you back. Asking for help isn't easy and you are not alone! We all need support at times and I am honored to be in a profession where I get to be that support. I would be honored to be that support for you! I am currently accepting adult patients only for telehealth counseling services.
We will work together to identify the underlying issues that are contributing to the problem that you would like to address. This often includes looking at the present day, how your thoughts, feelings and behaviors are related to each, and also at the past, how past events have shaped how your thinking and view of the world. The goal is to develop your understanding and set of skills so that you create change and address challenges in an empowering and healthy manner.
Foremost I take a person-centered approach, acknowledging that you are the expert on your life, your experience, and your goals. I primarily utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy but also pull from other CBT branches like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. My training as a marriage and family therapist also means that I incorporate the impact “systems” (i.e. families, partnerships, community, gender, race, ethnicity, etc.) have on us.
My biggest strength as a counselor is my ability to create non-judgemental, empathic relationships with clients and use that as a foundation to have those hard conversations and make change.
