My name is Amelia Argueta-Alonso. I have been a licensed marriage and family therapist practicing in California for about four years. I am bilingual in English and Spanish and am available to conduct sessions in both languages. I began my career working with children in play therapy and have transitioned to working with adults for the past three years of my practice.
Building rapport is essential to me. In the first session, I try to make my Client feel as comfortable as possible, creating a safe space to help them process their challenges and worries along with asking assessing questions so that I could have a picture of their overall presenting problem.
My biggest strength as a provider is empathizing with my Clients. I focus on active listening and phrasing to ensure I understand them. I avoid exposing my own beliefs, keeping an open mind and objective perspective on the therapeutic process.
I have experience working with all populations, from play therapy with children to working with adults and seniors. As a trauma-informed therapist, I have worked with PTSD Clients and trauma victims.
Amelia Argueta-Alonso offers therapy covered by Central California Alliance for Health (Medi-Cal), Gold Coast Health Plan (Medi-Cal), Health Plan of San Joaquin - Medi-Cal, L.A. Care Health Plan (Medi-Cal), Orange County Mental Health Plan (Medi-Cal), Partnership HealthPlan of California (Medi-Cal) and San Francisco Health Plan (Medi-Cal) in California.
As a CBT Therapist, I aim to guide my clients towards a more positive and fulfilling life. I help them become aware of inaccurate or negative thinking, empowering them to view challenging situations more clearly and respond to them more effectively.
DBT helps my Clients manage and regulate their emotions using mindfulness and calming techniques. Clients will also benefit from learning interpersonal effectiveness, which helps improve interpersonal relationships and reduce overall conflicts.
