LMHC, 5 years of experience
I strive to build a compassionate relationship with my clients by supporting them and guiding them toward making the changes they are looking for. Together we will explore the challenges you face and work toward positive change. I believe that during therapy, you should be in the driver's seat. I may be an expert in mental health, but you are the expert on yourself. Our focus will be entirely on the goals you want to achieve for yourself, not what others tell you should be your goals. I'm comfortable meeting you right where you are. My goal is for you to leave my virtual office not feeling like "I'm not normal," but as the unique individual you are. I work collaboratively with adults surrounding various issues, including but not limited to: depression, anxiety, grief, self-esteem, life transitions, coping skills, stress management, mood disorders, trauma, and domestic violence. I also have a background in domestic violence prevention work. I believe it is essential to understand what is considered healthy and unhealthy, recognize abusive behavior, identify "red flags," and learn to establish healthy boundaries. Knowledge is power when it comes to breaking the cycle of abuse.
I work collaboratively with adults surrounding various issues, including but not limited to: depression, anxiety, grief, self-esteem, life transitions, coping skills, stress management, mood disorders, trauma, and domestic violence. When my clients get better, I see them connecting with the world in whatever way that means for them. Some pick up old hobbies they haven't enjoyed in years, get that job they've always wanted or connect with the friends or partners they have been looking for. I have seen people rediscover themselves after loss or trauma. I have a history of working with different groups of people. So, no one coming to my office has to be afraid that anything about them or their lives will be a barrier to therapy here.
My approach to therapy is integrative and dependent upon your needs, as there is no "one size fits all" with therapy. I utilized the following modalities: Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Dialectical (DBT) Skills, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Motivational Interviewing , Narrative, Person-Centered, Psychodynamic, Solution Focused Brief (SFBT), Strength-Based, and Trauma Focused.
My strengths are my compassion and my empathy for my clients as well as the understanding that my clients are the experts of themselves.
