I am a Christian, a husband, and a father of 3, with many years of counseling experience, and LOTS of life experiences. I began my undergraduate degree in Leadership and Ministry and eventually completed my master's degree in Professional Counseling. My professional experience includes being a therapist/crisis counselor in a community mental health setting, a director of a men's residential addiction center, a school based counselor, a pastor for 6 years, and currently a children's therapist.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

My initial approach is to build a good working relationship with each client in order to create an atmosphere where clients feel comfortable being transparent. This is key to identifying specific issues, treatment approaches, and a plan of action for each client individually. I am experienced and competent in many different therapeutic approaches and don't believe that any approach is a one size fits all. I also utilize a holistic approach including the mental, physical, and spiritual aspects.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I believe that my ability to connect on a personal level with others, my life experience, years of counseling experience, education, compassion, and the many tools I have learned (and continue to learn) to help others serve as some of my primary strengths.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I work with a client to identify thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and then take time to dig deeper to pinpoint underlying beliefs that are impacting these areas of our lives. We then work together to overcome negative thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in order to achieve peace, satisfaction, and contentment.

Christian Counseling

With years of experience as a pastor and professional counselor I utilize scripture as a foundation of truth for belief and practice.

Couples Counseling

I have many years of counseling couples beginning prior to marriage and spanning to struggling marriages and divorce. I use a combination of biblical worldview and evidence-based treatments to work with couples towards restoration and healing.

Experiential Therapy

I utilize experiences of clients to identify areas we need to work on and encourage clients to engage in experiences as a process to overcome areas they struggle with.

Family Therapy

I work together with families in order identify problem areas within the relationship and family dynamic in order to pursue an overall healthier family dynamic.
