Iguelle Bernard
Hello, My name is Iguelle (Miguel with no M) I am a board certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner practicing in Michigan for the past 4 1/2 years. I received my Master of Science in Nursing from Eastern Kentucky university.
Having been a psychiatric nurse for 11 years, I have worked with various psychiatric diagnoses and learned to prioritize clients' needs.
I provide compassionate, comprehensive mental health care designed around you, your needs, your struggles, your aspirations and expectations. My practice blends advance clinical expertise with a holistic approach. I partner closely with my clients to create safe, collaborative, and evidence-based treatment plans to provide the best care possible. My devotion is to help individuals and families facing mental health challenges regain hope and start enjoying life again.
First session
In our first session, we will have a short introduction and you will state the reason you are seeking for help. We will review your psychiatric/med/social history and together we will work on a plan suiting your needs for follow-up sessions.
Strengths
My approach is warm and conversational utilizing active listening to strictly prioritize your individual's needs. You would hear me say: What are your thoughts? Your input is valuable to create a dynamic treatment plan. How should we go about this? I want to ensure that you are an active participant in formulating your own care plan. Is there anything else you want me to know? From the start and as we advance in your treatment plan I want to excel at building rapid, trusting rapport- which is vital for getting you to open up during vulnerable time of meetings.
Ideal clients
Feeling alone, misunderstood, hopeless, nothing seems to work, are you ready to give up? My goal is to walk alongside you during this journey and to bring a smile back to your face. Either through medication management, CBT techniques and Christian counseling, I am devoted to see YOU as a whole " body, mind and soul" to regain momentum again.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I often use CBT techniques to encourage especially my anxious and depressed clients to think and behave differently by changing their thought patterns, facing their fears and using problem solving skills to navigate their difficult situations.
Christian Counseling
My goal has been to encourage Christian individuals, families facing chaotic and overwhelming challenges to continue claiming their identity in Christ, to continue abiding in Him, in His word by applying biblical principles and techniques to cope with life stressors.
