Hello, I am Brenda Comer, an Indiana Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Licensed Addictions Counselor. First session
In our first session we will introduce ourselves, discuss expectations of therapy, and begin developing rapport. I will actively listen to your concerns and what specifically you will like to work on and goals you want to accomplish.
Strengths
Clients have expressed that I am a compassionate, "down to earth," "meet clients where they are," and a non-judgmental therapist who strive to resolve, solve, and eliminate problems that negatively impact their lives. I have 30+years of providing insight, problem solving, and empowering to individuals and families.
Ideal clients
I enjoy working with youth ages 12-18yrs. old and adults. I also enjoy coaching professionals seeking consultation related to their careers and professional performance.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use this method because I found that changing one's unhealthy thinking patterns seems to be most effective, as my clients have thinking errors. Most of my work experience has been mainly with mandated clients.
Interpersonal
I utilize this method as my clients often has difficulty communicating with others. I apply in individual and family therapy.
Motivational Interviewing
I use motivational interviewing with clients particularly my substance use disorder clients with focus on change and is evidence based.
