Hello, Are you or your children dealing with anxiety, depression, ADHD, anger, trauma or loss. If so, I want to help. I am a licensed mental health counselor with over 33 years of counseling experience. I have worked in a variety of settings including acute hospitalization, residential treatment, community mental health, agency services and private practice. I have extensive experience working with children, adolescents, adults and parents. I work to help clients develop coping skills to manage their symptoms, find meaning in life and improve functioning at home, school, work, and the community. I use a positive, solution focused and skills based approach to therapy in a comfortable, casual setting. I strive to make clients feel comforted and supported during sessions.
As a cognitive behavioral therapist, I strive to help clients develop and practice new coping and problem-solving skills to better manage their mood and improve functioning in daily life. The process starts with an assessment followed by the cooperative development of short and long term goals to address the stated needs of the client. We then work together to explore how the client is functioning in various settings and ways to improve the quality of life. As a client, you should expect to be able to develop skills to better manage depression, anxiety, anger and stress. As the parent of a client, you should expect an improvement in emotional regulation, behavior, cooperation and school performance.
I am trained in cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma therapy, infant mental health, grief work, ADHD treatment, telehealth, and child and adolescent treatment. I use evidenced based practices presented through a variety of activities, especially with children and adolescents. I can work closely with your pediatrician, family practitioner or psychiatrist if desired and permitted. For parents struggling with their child's behavior, I offer parenting sessions to help eliminate tantrums/meltdowns and improve behavior in the home, school and day care.
My biggest strengths are helping clients feel comfortable while addressing negative thought processes and finding more positives and gratitude in life. I have developed my own tools to help clients reduce anger and improve mood and to help children self-monitor and improve their behavior. My unique, casual approach helps build rapport and helps clients feel more comfortable.
While I can see clients of any age, most of my practice has been children, adolescents and young adults who make up about 75% of my practice. I work best with anxiety, depression, anger, ADHD, trauma and grief. I also work well with foster children and their families.
