Greetings! My name is Alexis, I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. I have 4 years of experience in the mental health field including community, correctional, inpatient, and residential settings. As a mental health therapist, I primarily work with adolescents, adults, couples, and families who are navigating intrapersonal and interpersonal challenges, seeking a therapeutic space to address life transitions as they come. I'm committed to serving the BIPOC community, queer individuals, and men and women with the use of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy and Narrative Therapy. My therapeutic specialties include addressing experiences with anxiety, depression, divorce (life during and after), family conflict, grief/loss, life transitions, racial identity/disparities, relationship issues, and stress management. As your assigned Grow therapist, I'm committed to providing a healthy, interactive therapeutic space with a sense of compassion, empathy, and reassurance. My focus is working with clients in individual settings to cultivate the desire to improve oneself and life experiences.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session together, I ask that you bring yourself and be yourself. We will start with introductions, please feel free to share your preferences on what provides you the most comfort during our therapy sessions. We will then dive into specific challenges you're facing that you would like to work through in therapy. This will allow me to create a specialized plan for us to work through in our continued sessions. All NEW clients must complete their intake form prior to their first session.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Authenticity and consistency are my greatest strengths as a provider. Therapy requires genuineness that can not be imitated. Allowing my clients to feel seen, heard, and validated creates a long-lasting counselor-client rapport. Showing up for my clients and being consistent in showing up for my clients goes a long way and it shows in their progress made in therapy.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

As a mental health therapist, I feel closely drawn to working with adolescents, adults, couples, and families. As a melanated mental health advocate, a significant amount of my clientele represents the BIPOC community. Whether navigating a new chapter in life or the ending of one, I'm adamant about working with clients who want to do the work to better and empower themselves.

My treatment methods

Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy

By training, I am a REBT therapist. Through the use of REBT, I create space for my clients to identify irrational beliefs and negative thought patterns that may lead to emotional or behavioral issues. Once those beliefs are identified, I assist and support clients with developing strategies to replace them with more rational thought patterns. *Often used with clients experiencing: anxiety, depression, addictive behaviors, phobias, procrastination, and overwhelming feelings of anger, guilt, or rage.*

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

In practice, I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help my clients build emotional regulation skills, improve interpersonal effectiveness, and develop distress tolerance. Through a structured blend of individual therapy, and skills training. I guide clients in learning mindfulness techniques and strategies to manage overwhelming emotions, reduce self-destructive behaviors, and enhance overall coping abilities. By fostering a balance between acceptance and change, DBT empowers clients to create meaningful, positive changes in their lives.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

At the foundation of all sessions provided to clients, mindfulness is present. I create a therapeutic space for the client to experience nonjudgmental awareness of the present moment, including one's thoughts, bodily sensations, and the environment, while encouraging openness and acceptance.

Faith based therapy

Integrating faith into counseling provides my clients with a unique, non-judgemental space to explore their innermost thoughts and emotions within the framework of their spiritual beliefs. *Often used with clients experiencing struggles related to faith, family, relationships, and sexuality.
