Dr. Dan Reitman

LPCC (he/him)15 years of experience

Hi, I’m Dr. Reitman. My approach helps you understand how your life story, beliefs, and relationships shape who you are today. I use evidence-based approaches, including EMDR and clinical hypnosis, to help with anxiety, trauma, depression, substance use, relationship stress, and life transitions.

I offer an Adlerian approach, which means I believe in exploring the unique ways your life experiences, beliefs, and relationships have shaped who you are today.

Together, we’ll work toward insight, healing and lasting change. IMPORTANT! All potential clients must participate in a free 15-minute phone consultation to ensure our work together will be a good therapeutic fit. You may still book an initial appointment, just be aware that this will be a 15-minute phone call rather than a full session.

First session

When you work with me, you can expect a down-to-earth, collaborative process. We’ll begin with a lifestyle assessment to explore how early memories, family dynamics, and core beliefs may shape how you relate to yourself and others. This usually unfolds over several sessions, with space for depth and reflection. I also draw on mindfulness and compassion-based approaches to help you notice patterns without judgment. Our work is not just about what’s wrong—it’s also about identifying strengths, finding meaning, and making more intentional choices in your life.

Strengths

I take an Adlerian approach to my work with clients. So what does that mean? It means we explore how your life story, beliefs, and relationships shape who you are today. Together we will set clear goals, practice new skills, and foster lasting growth. When you work with me, you can expect a down-to-earth, collaborative process. I’m certified in clinical hypnosis and also trained in EMDR. Both are evidence‑based tools that ease anxiety, trauma, depression, and substance use. We'll begin with a lifestyle assessment to explore how early memories, family dynamics, and beliefs shape how you relate to yourself and others. Progress often shows up as more self-awareness, healthier relationships, and feeling more empowered to make intentional choices in your life. I believe in meeting each person with respect, curiosity, and encouragement, helping them uncover meaning, connection, and the courage to grow. Success means a client feels more empowered, self-aware, and connected—to themselves, others, and a life that feels meaningful.

Ideal clients

I work best with clients who are ready to take an honest look at their lives and are motivated to grow, even when that process takes time. My approach tends to be a good fit for people who want more than quick symptom relief and are interested in understanding how their life experiences, relationships, and beliefs have shaped the way they move through the world. I believe therapy works best when there is a strong, trusting relationship, and that kind of connection does not happen overnight. I also begin with a lifestyle assessment, which gives us time and space to understand your story more deeply. Because of that, I’m often a strong fit for clients who value depth, reflection, and meaningful long-term change over quick fixes.

Treatment methods

Adlerian

I offer an Adlerian approach, which means I believe in exploring the unique ways your life experiences, beliefs, and relationships have shaped who you are today.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based therapy that supports healing from trauma and other overwhelming life experiences. EMDR helps the brain process distressing memories in a way that allows them to feel less intense and disruptive over time. Instead of requiring you to retell every detail of what happened, EMDR uses tools like eye movements or gentle tapping to help your nervous system release what’s been stuck. Many people find that EMDR helps them feel more grounded, less reactive, and better able to make sense of their past without being overwhelmed by it.

Hypnotherapy

Clinical hypnosis is a relaxed, focused state of attention, much like being absorbed in a good book, created with your counselor’s guidance. In this state, your mind is more open to helpful suggestions that can ease anxiety, break unwanted habits, or reduce the emotional sting of painful memories. During sessions, you are briefly guided into this calm focus, use tailored imagery or affirmations, and then return to ordinary awareness to discuss insights and next steps. Most clients leave feeling lighter, more in control, and equipped with practical tools they can use on their own between appointments.
