(she/her)
Hello Beautiful People! My name is Naomi Lorraine (pronounced Nay-oh-mee), and I am passionate about creating a supportive, empowering, and culturally responsive space where clients can heal, grow, and thrive. I work with adults 18+ in areas including healthy relationships, anxiety, career and lifestyle concerns, and goal setting. I also have a special passion for supporting youth ages 16 and older who are transitioning out of the foster care system and navigating important life changes. My therapy style is an integrated approach that combines Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), client-centered therapy, and holistic modalities. This means I help clients identify and challenge negative thought patterns, manage difficult emotions, and address problematic behaviors while also incorporating mindfulness, self-awareness, and wellness-focused practices into the healing process. I believe that each client is the expert of their own life, so our work together is always collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to your individual needs and goals. I earned my Master of Arts in Marriage & Family Therapy with an emphasis on African American Families because representation and accessibility in mental health care are deeply important to me. As a therapist of color, I understand the value of creating spaces where clients feel seen, understood, and safe to show up authentically. My goal is to promote wellness in every sense of the word and empower clients to develop healthy habits and daily practices that support long-term emotional, mental, and physical well-being.
During our first therapy session together, we will focus on building a comfortable and supportive connection while discussing your concerns, personal goals, background experiences, and what you hope to gain from the therapeutic process.
One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is my ability to truly listen and create a space where clients feel heard, understood, and supported without judgment. At the same time, I believe growth requires honesty and accountability, so I am not simply a “yes person.” I gently challenge clients when necessary, helping them recognize unhealthy patterns, take responsibility for their choices, and stay committed to the goals they set for themselves. My approach balances compassion with accountability to encourage meaningful and lasting change.
My ideal client is an adult or older adolescent who is seeking support with improving healthy relationships, managing anxiety, navigating career or lifestyle transitions, and achieving personal goals. I am especially passionate about working with youth ages 16 and older who are transitioning out of the foster care system and may need guidance, stability, and encouragement during major life changes. I strive to create a supportive and culturally responsive therapeutic environment where clients feel seen, heard, and empowered. As a therapist with a background focused on African American families, I value increasing representation and accessibility for clients of color seeking meaningful mental health support and personal growth.
I identify as
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
My therapy style is an integrated approach of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, client-centered, and holistic care. What this means is I will help you identify and modify negative emotions as well as problematic behaviors by using techniques such as cognitive restructuring and mindfulness techniques. Helping you develop healthy habits that can turn into daily practices to achieve better mental and physical health outcomes.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
In my work, I help clients develop clear, achievable goals while exploring times when the problem was less intense or absent to build on successful behaviors and coping strategies. Through collaborative conversations, encouragement, and practical interventions, I support clients in recognizing their abilities, increasing hope, and creating realistic steps toward meaningful and lasting change.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
I use empathy, active listening, unconditional positive regard, and genuineness to help clients explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences openly. Rather than directing the session, I allow clients to guide the therapeutic process at their own pace while supporting their personal growth, self-awareness, and ability to make meaningful changes aligned with their values and goals.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I use DBT techniques to support clients in building mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness skills. I provide a validating and supportive environment while helping clients balance acceptance and change, empowering them to respond to challenges in healthier and more effective ways.
