Greetings! I am DeEdra Powell LMSW, LCSW-S licensed in the state Texas. I graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelors in Communication and a Masters Degree in Social Work in 2016. I have spent the last 17 years of my career working with children and families in the child welfare system helping to mend families while treating the individual. I have a wealth of knowledge in issues related to parenting, attachment, substance abuse, trauma and child development. My counseling style offers compassion, understanding and engaging dialog, which allow us to process through whatever problems you may be facing. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and dignity because that is what you deserve. I am here to offer guidance, reflection and truly walking with you along your journey. My approach will be evidence based and tailored to your unique and specific needs. I commend you for taking the necessary steps towards a more fulfilling and happier life. Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and begin building a comfortable, supportive therapeutic relationship. We’ll discuss what brings you to therapy, your current concerns, relevant history, and the goals you’d like to work toward. I’ll ask questions to better understand your experiences, strengths, and challenges, and together we’ll create a plan tailored to your needs. Most importantly, this is a judgment-free space where you can share at your own pace and begin your journey toward healing and growth.

What stands out about my approach is that I balance compassion with honesty. I provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space while also helping clients identify patterns, challenge unhelpful thinking, and take meaningful action toward change. My work is collaborative and tailored to each client’s unique needs rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. I draw from evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR, Solution-Focused Therapy, and mindfulness-based interventions. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, life transitions, or stress, my goal is to help you gain insight, build practical coping skills, and create lasting change that extends beyond the therapy room. Clients often appreciate my ability to be both empathetic and direct, helping them feel understood while also empowering them to make progress toward the life they want.

DeEdra is absolutely great! I loved our session and can’t wait for the next one. she truly made me feel so comfortable and I love that she challenged me to answer the hard questions!
