I am passionate about working with children and their families. Children are learning about the world around them and they often don't know what their feelings mean or how to communicate them quite yet. When children have been through stressful things, it is even harder for them to express their feelings. And those feelings can come out of kids in big ways! As adults, we can struggle to understand how to help young ones when their emotions get really big. As their adult, you want to help your child and you also need someone to support you. That is where I can help.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first session is where we begin our relationship with one another. I spend a lot of time getting to know you and your history. The first session will be spent getting to understand your needs, your experiences, and what you hope to get out of therapy. Most importantly, I want to understand how best to help you. There is not such thing as a "one size fits all" therapy because everyone is different and has different needs. Our first session will be the jumping off point that will guide our time together.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I provide a warm and empathetic space for clients to talk about their experiences and process their feelings. I maintain a nonjudgmental approach with all of my clients. Therapy should be a space for people to bring their deepest fears, their biggest secrets, and know they will be met with understanding. I work to meet you where you are. I will always meet you with kindness, respect, and understanding.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I have been working with children and families for nearly 15 years. I began working with children as a pre-school teacher, which allowed me the opportunity to see the need for mental health providers that specialize in working with children and families. Since that time, I have worked with hundreds of children and families to provide support and facilitate healing. Healthy relationships are at the root of healing and I am honored to be a part of that for so many families. I specialize in working with children under the age of 10 to help them heal from trauma, strengthen their bond with the adults in their lives, and develop an understanding of their feelings and what signals those feelings send to them. I also love working with new parents to help them adapt to their changing world. Many parents experience so many big emotions when they bring a new child into their home. Providing parents with guidance and support along their journey into parenthood is something I am happy to help with.

My treatment methods

Psychodynamic

Our own personal history guides our understanding about our feelings and behaviors. I believe that exploring our own personal history leads to healing and growth because we are then able to discover the roots of our feelings. I dig deep into my clients' past to help them work through issues that arise in their present. The goal of my treatment is not just to heal, but to heal from the very roots of who you are.

Attachment-based

Attachment-based therapy is an essential part of my therapeutic practice. Healthy and flourishing relationships are a key component to living a positive life. Often times, we struggle to understand ourselves when we struggle to understand our relationships. Attachment-based work helps us understand your patterns within relationships throughout your lifetime. Understanding patterns allows us to understand what changes we need to make to live the life that we envision for ourselves.
