Kate Dressel
My name is Kate and I specialize in treating Trauma, Anxiety and Depression. I utilize CBT, Trauma-Focused CBT and EFT techniques while integrating them with my background in neuro-therapies and energy-psychology. I lean heavily on education and unconditional respect while approaching the therapeutic relationship with a team-work mentality and a belief system that every person is the professional of themselves and their lives.
First session
The first session is about building connection, establishing our shared goals and creating a safe space. In the early days of therapy we focus on building trust and comfort in the therapy setting and always move at the clients pace and never a step faster than their comfort zone. As we build rapport and connection in the therapeutic setting, we will explore more and zone in more specifically with interventions and care plans tailored to each individuals unique need or goals.
Strengths
I feel it is a great honor to be in the position of helping others and witnessing their healing. I take my role seriously and listen, think and reply with deep consideration of each persons unique experiences and needs. Some of my strengths that clients have shared with me are my ability to listen compassionately, my communication skills while educating people about the anatomy of the brain and psychology in relatable language and terms, as well as my priority in creating a safe space for people to feel comforted while exploring all the highs and lows of life with unconditional regard and respect.
Ideal clients
I find that each client is unique in life experience, family of origin, culture and temperament, however, one thing many clients I see have in common is that they are interested in learning more, leaning in with curiosity and growing beyond what may be causing them to feel stuck, stunted or held back. In this sense of being held back, clients often can make connections between present day situations and historical learning that was done in other life chapters. With the value of respect and regard for each persons unique walk of life, we walk together through those connections with moments of education sprinkled in, to better understand how our brains have learned to process stress/ trauma and to better understand each persons uniquely developed neuro-anatomy from both impact of past experiences and our genetics. My clients often report feeling less stress and more hope as they learn about what is happening in their brain, make connections from present to past, and build strategies and skills around the "how to's" of coping and navigating a way out of feeling stuck.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Certified in CBT, TF-CBT and EFT, I utilize these modalities to tailor therapeutic process, care and interventions for each individual. The goal is to build awareness, understanding/ education and skills around presenting difficulties to improve symptoms and create a life in which you feel more in control, confident and capable.
