I'm Dr. Shamagne N. Richardson, LPC, founder of EnRICHment Counseling & Wellness. I provide compassionate, trauma-informed therapy for adults navigating anxiety, stress, trauma, relationship challenges, life transitions, recovery, and self-esteem concerns. Using an integrative approach that draws from CBT, DBT, ACT, mindfulness, EMDR-informed practices, and other evidence-based therapies, I tailor treatment to each client's unique needs and goals. I believe healing happens through a collaborative therapeutic relationship built on trust, authenticity, and respect. My mission is to help clients gain insight, develop practical coping skills, strengthen resilience, and create meaningful, lasting change that enriches their lives and relationships.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Starting therapy can feel both exciting and nerve-wracking, and my goal is to help you feel as comfortable as possible. During our first session, we'll spend time getting to know one another and discussing what brings you to therapy. I'll ask questions about your current concerns, personal history, relationships, strengths, and goals so I can gain a better understanding of your unique experiences and how I can best support you. This session is also an opportunity for you to ask questions about the therapy process, my approach, and what you hope to achieve through our work together. Together, we'll begin identifying goals and creating a plan tailored to your needs. There is no pressure to share everything at once—therapy is a process, and we'll move at a pace that feels safe and comfortable for you. My priority is to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, respected, and empowered as we begin your journey toward growth and healing.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I bring warmth, authenticity, and a genuine commitment to helping clients feel seen, heard, and understood. Clients often appreciate my ability to balance compassion with honesty—creating a supportive space while also gently challenging patterns that may be keeping them stuck. I strive to build strong therapeutic relationships rooted in trust, collaboration, and respect, believing that meaningful change happens when clients feel safe enough to be vulnerable and empowered enough to grow. In addition to my clinical training, I bring experience working across a variety of mental health settings, including psychiatric emergency services, hospitals, community mental health, and outpatient therapy. This diverse background allows me to support clients facing a wide range of challenges, from everyday stress and anxiety to trauma, crisis situations, recovery, and major life transitions. My approach stands out because it is highly personalized and integrative. Rather than applying a single therapeutic model to every client, I tailor treatment to each person's unique needs, goals, strengths, and life experiences. Drawing from evidence-based approaches such as CBT, DBT, ACT, mindfulness, EMDR-informed practices, narrative therapy, and trauma-informed care, I work collaboratively with clients to find strategies and interventions that resonate with them. I also believe therapy should be both insightful and practical. While we explore the deeper roots of challenges and patterns, we also focus on developing real-world tools that clients can use in their daily lives. My goal is not only to help clients understand themselves better, but also to help them feel more confident, resilient, and equipped to create meaningful, lasting change. At the heart of my work is the belief that every person has strengths, wisdom, and resilience that can be nurtured and expanded. Therapy is not about "fixing" people—it's about helping them reconnect with their capacity to heal, grow, and live in alignment with the life they want to create.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am best positioned to serve adults who are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or emotionally exhausted and are ready to better understand themselves, heal from past experiences, and create meaningful change in their lives. Many of my clients struggle with anxiety, stress, trauma, relationship challenges, life transitions, self-esteem concerns, or difficulties managing intense emotions. Others are navigating recovery from substance use, processing grief and loss, healing from childhood experiences, or learning to establish healthier boundaries. My clients are often highly responsible, caring individuals who spend a great deal of energy taking care of others while neglecting their own needs. They may feel caught in patterns of people-pleasing, perfectionism, overthinking, self-criticism, or emotional avoidance. While they may have developed effective ways to function day-to-day, they often find themselves wanting deeper healing, greater emotional balance, and stronger, more authentic relationships. I work best with clients who are open to self-exploration, willing to develop new skills, and interested in understanding the connection between their thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and past experiences. Whether someone is seeking practical coping strategies, deeper insight, trauma recovery, or personal growth, I strive to create a collaborative, supportive environment where they feel empowered to move toward a more fulfilling and values-driven life.

My treatment methods

Eclectic

As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I utilize an integrative and eclectic therapeutic approach grounded in trauma-informed, person-centered care. I work collaboratively with clients to identify treatment goals and select interventions that best fit their unique experiences and needs. Depending on the presenting concerns, I may incorporate CBT to challenge unhelpful thinking patterns, DBT to strengthen emotional regulation and distress tolerance skills, ACT to promote psychological flexibility and values-based living, mindfulness practices to increase present-moment awareness, narrative techniques to help clients reshape their personal stories, and EMDR-informed interventions to process traumatic experiences. My goal is to create a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel empowered to develop insight, build resilience, and create meaningful, lasting change.
