As a trained Christian counselor, although I do not impose my beliefs on my clients if they do not want Christian counseling, I otherwise provide clinical care and spiritual support to help clients who request the integration of their Christian beliefs to improve their mental wellness and heal spiritually. Utilizing evidence-based counseling techniques, I draw on the principles of Christianity to help clients address a range of challenges, including Mental health conditions like depression and anxiety, Relationship problems or marital discord, Grief or anger, Parenting challenges, and Issues related to death and dying.
Through collaboration and active participation between the client and me, I apply CBT techniques such as cognitive restructuring, exposure therapy, journaling, activity scheduling, thought records, role play, and goal setting to help them change unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors. I also work together with the client to decide what to work on in each session and what to do between sessions
As an Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapist helps patients process and heal from traumatic memories and other distressing life experiences. EMDR is a psychotherapy technique that involves a combination of talk therapy and a specific series of eye movements or other bilateral stimulation.
I apply dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) to help my clients learn skills to manage their emotions, improve relationships, and cope with challenging situations. DBT is a type of psychotherapy that uses a combination of acceptance and change techniques to help patients develop new ways of thinking and behaving
I apply Motivational interviewing (MI) skills and use a variety of techniques such as asking open-ended questions, validating, reflective listening, and providing affirmation to help clients change their ambivalence in treatment or unhealthy behavior.
