It is all about relationships. I think any family, couple, or person can go through times when counseling can be helpful. You may just want support for challenges or changes. It does not mean you cannot handle it, but you just do not have to do it all alone. After more than 13 years of counseling; I believe growth is hard, even painful and that a confidential and professional perspective is helpful to change how we react to things that happen or process them. Are you pretending, running, numbing, or repeating patterns in choices or relationships? Are you suffering or struggling and feeling alone? You are not alone. I believe by honestly sharing your story, you can transform pain, heal from trauma, and change patterns. You can change your story and that will change your life! Therapy is not only about problems and is for mental, emotional, and spiritual health and wellness.
Each session, you can expect to have an experienced, empathetic, professional in a confidential, respectful environment to examine and address your experiences and areas of your life that are bothering you. We will explore and focus on your priorities, goals, and provide you with skills to use between sessions.
I use an integrated approach from different theories according to your preferences, needs, and evidence-based practices. Most often, I have utilized CBT, DBT, EMDR, experiential, psychoeducation, and person-centered interventions. I usually offer some sort of practice or homework to use whatever approach or skills we addressed. I believe in working toward your mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness.
My experience has been with adults primarily and trauma, including intimate partner violence and relational trauma. I have worked with individuals for many years who had childhood trauma which was impacting them in their adult lives, especially with parenting, divorce, family, and marriages. I enjoy working with people without any judgment who are confused about their faith or struggling with things. Some are struggling with anxiety or depression even though they are praying and practicing their faith. I am passionate about including spirituality (not religion) in counseling and helping individuals heal and work toward mental and emotional health. Trauma can impact you with short-term or long-term effects and can be healed from the inside out.
