Do you feel like your current medications for your mental health issues are not effective? Or are you looking to start medications to help your symptoms? Are you struggling with negative side effects such as weight gain and fatigue from your current medications? Hello! My name is Cortney Berkley. I am a dual certified as both a Family Nurse Practitioner and a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I have been in the nursing field for over 20 years. I have been practicing as a Nurse Practitioner for the past 7 years, with most of that time begin in the area of psychiatry and mental health. I pride myself on being an open minded and nonjudgemental provider, who listens and strives to improve the overall lives of her patients. I would love to speak with you about issues with your current psychiatric medications or about the possibility of starting medications in combination with therapy. I look forward to hearing from you!
I hope my clients will feel a sense of relief and renewed hope regarding their medication regimen after a consultation with me.
I strive to utilize optimal medication regimens individualized to each patient, often prescribing a functional/naturalistic medication approach in combination with current prescribed medications. I am a firm believer in therapy as well! While I don't require my patient to be in therapy to receive medications, it is strongly encouraged and will be encouraged at every visit. Medications CANNOT do it all! You must be willing to put in the additional work in therapy!
Most of my experience has been with rural patients with a variety of illnesses that have no other options nearby. I feel like this experience with patients across the lifespan has enabled me to be well versed in most areas of mental illness, ranging from anxiety and depression to schizophrenia, mood disorder and addiction.
