About me

I'm Stacie Allphin, LPC, LCDC, and for more than 25 years, I've had the privilege of walking alongside individuals, adolescents, and families as they find their way toward healing and lasting recovery. If you or someone you love is struggling with Mental Health, substance use challenges, or both - you don't have to figure it out alone. Whether you're just beginning to explore support or have been on this road for a while, I'd love to connect. Reaching out takes courage, and I'm here to meet you where you are.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Starting therapy can feel nerve-wracking, and I want you to know that your first session is designed with that in mind. While we'll cover the important getting-to-know-you information that helps me understand your history and what's brought you in, don't expect a clipboard and a checklist. Our conversation will feel like just that — a conversation. I'll gently guide us through what I need to know, but my priority in that first hour is simply for you to feel heard and at ease. There's no homework, no pressure, and no expectations beyond showing up. By the time we wrap up, my hope is that you leave feeling a sense of relief — like you've finally found the right person to help you carry this. I want you walking out the door feeling lighter, more hopeful, and confident that you're in good hands.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I bring more than two decades of experience working with individuals, adolescents, families, and people affected by substance use and mental health concerns. One of my greatest strengths is my ability to meet clients where they are without judgment while creating an environment where they feel heard, respected, and emotionally safe. I recognize that each client has a unique history, personality, family system, strengths, and barriers to change, so I do not believe in a “one-size-fits-all” approach to therapy. strength I bring is flexibility. I draw from multiple evidence-informed therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, Solution-Focused Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Supportive Therapy, experiential interventions, and other approaches based on the client's individual needs and treatment goals. Rather than expecting the client to adapt to my preferred modality, I adapt the therapeutic process to the client. Perhaps most importantly, I bring authenticity. I believe therapy works best when clients experience the therapist as a genuine, engaged human being rather than simply someone applying techniques. I strive to balance warmth and acceptance with appropriate challenge, helping clients feel supported while encouraging them to examine patterns that may no longer be serving them. My approach stands out because I combine clinical structure with genuine human connection. I want clients to feel that therapy is a place where they can be understood, but I also want them to leave sessions with greater insight, practical tools, and a clearer understanding of what they can do differently. I take a whole-person and systems-oriented approach. A person's symptoms rarely exist in isolation. Anxiety, depression, substance use, relationship difficulties, trauma responses, and behavioral patterns can be interconnected. I therefore consider the individual within the context of their relationships, family dynamics, history, environment, and current circumstances. I also incorporate experiential and action-oriented methods when appropriate. Some clients benefit from talking through a problem, while others gain greater insight by experiencing, visualizing, practicing, or approaching an issue from a different perspective. My use of experiential interventions allows therapy to move beyond simply discussing problems and toward developing new ways of understanding and responding to them. I do not view clients as problems that need to be fixed. In

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

An ideal client is not defined by a particular diagnosis or presenting problem. My ideal client is someone who is willing, even if only cautiously, to explore what is happening in their life and consider the possibility that change is possible. They may be struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, substance use, life transitions, self-esteem, or patterns that they recognize are no longer working for them. I especially value working with clients who want to understand the “why” behind their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, rather than simply learning how to manage symptoms. Some clients come to therapy knowing exactly what they want to change, while others may initially feel stuck, overwhelmed, or uncertain about where to begin. I enjoy helping clients identify their goals, recognize their strengths, and develop a clearer path forward. My ideal client is willing to be honest and curious about themselves. They do not have to arrive motivated, confident, or ready to make major changes. In fact, many people enter therapy feeling ambivalent or discouraged. I believe those feelings can become part of the therapeutic work rather than a barrier to it. Ultimately, my ideal client is someone who wants a therapist who will listen without judgment, meet them where they are, and also gently challenge them when necessary. I want clients to feel safe enough to be vulnerable while also empowered to take meaningful steps toward change. My goal is for clients to leave therapy with more than simply having talked about their problems. I want them to develop greater self-awareness, practical tools, healthier relationships, increased confidence, and a stronger sense of direction. Whether their goal is healing from the past, improving the present, or creating a different future, I enjoy working with people who are ready to explore what is possible.

My treatment methods

Eclectic

No two people experience life's challenges in the same way, which is why treatment should never be one-size-fits-all. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to your unique needs, goals, strengths, and life experiences. I draw from a variety of evidence-based therapeutic modalities to create an individualized treatment plan that supports meaningful and lasting change. Rather than relying on a single therapeutic model, I utilize an eclectic, integrative approach, selecting interventions based on your individual needs, preferences, diagnosis, and treatment goals. This flexibility allows therapy to evolve as you do, ensuring that each session remains purposeful, relevant, and responsive to your progress. Whether you are seeking support for anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, relationship concerns, life transitions, personal growth, or family therapy, our work together will focus on helping you develop insight, strengthen resilience, build effective coping skills, and create lasting, meaningful change. Below are just a few of the modalities used during therapy. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)is an evidence-based therapy that helps individuals process and heal from traumatic experiences, distressing memories, anxiety, and other emotional challenges that continue to impact daily life. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)focuses on identifying and changing unhelpful patterns of thinking and behavior, helping clients develop healthier coping strategies, improve emotional regulation, and build practical skills for managing life's challenges. Solution-Focused Therapy emphasizes strengths, resilience, and achievable goals rather than remaining focused on problems. Together, we identify what is working, build on existing successes, and develop practical strategies for creating positive change. Person-Centered Therapy provides a warm, accepting, and nonjudgmental environment where you are heard, respected, and empowered. I believe that every individual has the capacity for growth when provided with genuine support and understanding. Supportive Therapy offers encouragement, validation, and practical guidance during difficult life transitions, stress, grief, relationship challenges, or periods of emotional distress while strengthening existing coping abilities. Experiential Therapy incorporates activities and techniques that help clients move beyond simply talking about problems. Through experiential interventions, clients gain insight, increase emotional awareness, and practice new ways of responding to life's challenges.

Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is a gentle, evidence-informed therapeutic technique that helps clients access a deeply relaxed and focused state of awareness where positive change can occur more naturally. Contrary to common misconceptions, hypnosis does not involve losing control or being unconscious. Instead, clients remain aware, engaged, and in control throughout the entire process. I incorporate hypnotherapy as a complementary intervention when it is clinically appropriate and aligned with a client's treatment goals. By reducing distractions and promoting deep relaxation, hypnotherapy can help clients access underlying thoughts, emotions, beliefs, and behavioral patterns that may be difficult to reach through traditional talk therapy alone. Hypnotherapy may be beneficial for individuals seeking support with: Anxiety and stress management Smoking and nicotine cessation Habit and behavior change Improving confidence and self-esteem Managing fears and specific phobias Sleep difficulties and relaxation Emotional regulation Motivation and performance enhancement Coping with chronic stress Enhancing overall wellness and resilience Because every client is unique, hypnotherapy is never used as a stand-alone treatment. Instead, it is thoughtfully integrated with evidence-based approaches and therapeutic modalities to create a treatment plan tailored to each individual's needs. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive, and collaborative environment where clients can develop healthier thought patterns, strengthen coping skills, and achieve meaningful, lasting change. Hypnotherapy serves as one of many tools available to help clients overcome barriers, reinforce positive behaviors, and move toward their personal goals with greater confidence and emotional well-being.
