Welcome, I am so glad you have taken this step. I believe that clients are the experts in their own lives, the role of the therapist is to be the bridge toward the path of establishing wellness. My journey to becoming a therapist developed as a result of wanting to help others heal. I am fluent in Urdu/Hindi, and familiar with Punjabi, Arabic, and Spanish.
We will be completing our assessment during the first 1-2 sessions, establishing goals, and collaborating regarding modalities for treatment. As my client, you can expect to be empowered, engage in some humor from time to time, and most of all, be comfortable with being yourself.
My experience of being working across multiple fields gives me the advantage of having an eclectic approach to therapy, meaning I use a combination of different modalities and methods during the therapeutic alliance. I enjoy sharing the realistic and human aspect of therapy, highlighting the positive changes from session to session, and incorporating a collaborative approach.
Attachments are formed early in life and reflect our relationships as adults; positive psychology and strengths based are an important of my practice as well.
Trauma-focused CBT with an emphasis on childhood and/or past experiences are typically a start to therapy.
I have completed a certificate course in DBT and utilize it, not just with BPD but with a variety of psychological disorders.
Essentially, I use a combination of different modalities, and do not lean toward just one approach.
I completed EMDR training and use resourcing techniques as well as processing methods in practice.
