Roger Lavine

LPC30 years of experience

I utilize a psychodynamic/person centered approach exploring how past experiences, relationships, and events impact present day functioning. I believe that establishing a collaborative, non-judgmental, and trusting relationship between client and therapist is the key to initiating change and working towards solutions. Whether you're feeling anxious, depressed, stressed, misunderstood, unheard, or just stuck and feeling as if there's no way out, we can work together to find workable, realistic alternatives to improve your feeling, thinking, and behaving, as you move towards healthy and authentic living. I have 30 years experience working with adolescents, adults, and couples. I am also trained provider of Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) which can be used to treat treatment resistant depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, OCD, relationship/communication issues, and feelings of disconnectedness.

First session

In our first session we will make introductions and I will complete a Biopsychosocial assessment. We will discuss goals and objectives and make plans for future sessions.

Strengths

I am an objective and insightful clinician who utilizes a direct yet compassionate approach ... and I Enjoy what I do!

Treatment methods

Psychodynamic

Psychodynamic therapy is an in-depth, talk-based approach that explores how past experiences and the unconscious mind shape your current behaviors. By uncovering hidden emotions and unresolved conflicts, it helps you resolve deep-seated issues rather than just managing surface-level symptoms.

Couples Counseling

Take an in depth look at each individuals family and environmental history, personality characteristics, and communications styles in an effort to know and trust your partner.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

A collaborative effort between client and therapist. Empowers you to discover your own solutions and fostering self-acceptance and personal growth.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is an action-oriented form of cognitive behavioral therapy that helps you develop psychological flexibility. Rather than fighting or avoiding difficult inner emotions, you learn to accept them, clarify your core values, and commit to positive behavior changes aligned with those values.
