"Just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, it became a butterfly." — Chuang Tzu Hello! I’m Dr. Jaclyn Bellassai, a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) triple board-certified in Psychiatry, Addiction, and Family Medicine. For me, practicing medicine is a profound privilege. I approach every individual with genuine sensitivity and compassion, deeply honoring the trust my patients place in me. By looking through my patients' eyes and integrating their unique history, culture, and belief systems, I ensure that every treatment plan is truly patient-centered. As a highly specialized clinician, my extensive background spans across diverse populations and complex care settings. My experience in psychiatric hospitals and acute care has expertly prepared me to manage severe, intricate cases—ranging from schizoaffective disorder to severe major depression—including navigating Baker Act court proceedings and coordinating multi-disciplinary discharge plans. Additionally, my specialized expertise in addiction medicine and subacute residential care allows me to provide comprehensive stabilization for those recovering from substance use disorders, alongside dedicated psychiatric care for vulnerable older adults in skilled nursing facilities. My educational foundation includes a Doctorate and Master's degree from the University of South Florida (USF) specializing in family medicine, alongside psychiatric training at Florida State University (FSU). Holding triple certifications allows me to view mental wellness through a holistic lens, expertly identifying underlying physical health conditions that may mimic or compound psychiatric and substance-related symptoms. Furthermore, as a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps with a specialized certification in Veterans Mental Health, I possess a unique, firsthand understanding of the veteran community, grounded in a lifetime commitment to integrity and leadership. I look forward to partnering with you on your wellness journey and providing the compassionate, dedicated care you deserve!

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Our first session will be about getting to know one another, setting expectations, coming up with short and long-term goals, and customizing a treatment plan that is realistic and patient-centered.

The treatment methods and tools I utilize

The treatment methods I like to use are based on evidence-based practice, which are medication therapy, psychology/counseling (referrals to therapist), and encouraging other modalities such as complementary alternative therapies (CAM) meditation, yoga, etc.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My biggest strength is that I have experience dealing with the acutely ill and those dealing with severe mental illness in a crisis, so I am comfortable with the hard stuff. I am also a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and have a special certification in Veteran's Mental Health, so I understand and uniquely know what veterans face after leaving the military and during their time of service.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am best positioned to serve adults (18+) and older adults navigating complex mental health challenges, severe mood disorders, and life transitions. With specialized expertise as a triple board-certified clinician, I provide holistic care for individuals facing the dual challenges of psychiatric symptoms and substance use disorders. Additionally, as a U.S. Marine Corps veteran with a dedicated certification in Veterans Mental Health, I have a deep, firsthand understanding of the unique military culture, service-related trauma, and the profound impact deployment and transitions have on both service members and their families. I welcome clients who are ready to partner in building a compassionate, patient-centered path toward healing.
