New to Grow
Hello, I’m Jenna and I’ve been in the field for a few years and worked in various settings. I have worked in hospitals, various non profit and currently work as a supervisor at a community mental health agency as my full time job. My primary work is in DBT as I was a DBT IOP clinician for years. I am also able to provide supervision for LMSW’s as I am a supervisor.
Our first session will consist of intake paperwork that I am required to fill out for Grow. Once that is complete we will dive into what brings you into treatment and how I can help you.
I believe my greatest strengths is that I am well versed in DBT and have the book memorized. I have worked in some difficult settings with significantly ill clients and have the ability to engage in complex cases. My other strengths is my empathy I am going to push you because I care about you but not to hurt you.
My ideal client is someone who is solution focused and wants support, feedback and skills to move forward. Someone who struggles either relationships and is motivated to work. I am also comfortable with clients who struggle with this but want to at least try. My ideal client is also ok to have a bad day and struggle with motivation. I feel like this is a tough question because there is no ideal client. I want to help everyone, no matter the challenge.
Compassion Focused
I usually start my sessions gathering information and being compassionate focused. This helps me build rapport with my clients and create human relationships.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
After building rapport I try to utilize CBT to have my clients look at the problem from different perspectives.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
After building rapport and utilizing CBT I move onto DBT to give you the tools for when I am not with my client to cope with these stressors and problems. I am solution focused in some ways.
Supportive
After I get to know my clients for a while I will push your boundaries at times. Sometimes we need someone in our life to call us out in a kind manner to help us work on ourselves.
Collaborative Management and Assessment of Suicidality (CAMS)
I am client centered if one day you come in a want to vent ok that’s fine if you want to work on problems that is ok with me. It is up to you how you want the session to go.
