About me

Hi, and welcome! I'm a counselor in Virginia, and I'm currently accepting new virtual clients. I work with adults going through big life changes, with a special focus on supporting women and LGBTQ+ clients. Many of the people I see are dealing with anxiety, stress, burnout, grief, or the ups and downs of a major transition. My style is warm, down-to-earth, and centered on your strengths. I'll meet you where you are and help you move forward with more clarity and confidence. I also offer sessions that include time with horses, held outdoors in a calm, peaceful setting. You don't need any horse experience, and there's no riding involved. These sessions can help you feel more grounded, build your confidence, and get more comfortable with your emotions. They're available in the Harrisonburg and Rockingham County area.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Starting counseling can feel like a big step, and I want our first session to feel easy and free of judgment. We'll take time to get to know each other. We'll talk about what brought you in, what's going well, what feels hard right now, and what you'd like to be different. You don't need to have it all figured out before we meet , it's okay to feel unsure about where to start. Together, we'll name a few goals and talk about how to work toward them in a way that fits who you are. I'll also answer any questions you have, so you know what to expect. Whatever you're facing, my hope is to create a space where you can feel like yourself and take things one step at a time.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I bring many years of experience as a counselor, teacher, and leader, and I draw on all of it in our work together. My clients tell me they appreciate that I offer both warmth and practical tools — a safe place to work through hard feelings, plus real steps to create change. I believe you are more than your struggles or any label. Together, we'll build on your strengths, notice patterns that may be holding you back, and grow skills that help in your relationships, your work, and your everyday life. My approach is collaborative and grounded in proven methods, and I shape it around your goals rather than a one-size-fits-all plan. I'm committed to a welcoming space where people of all backgrounds feel respected and heard. I welcome clients of every race, culture, faith, ability, sexual orientation, gender identity, and relationship style. I know that our experiences and the world around us shape our mental health, and I want to honor your unique story.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work best with adults who are ready to make real change. Many of my clients are hard-working professionals, caregivers, leaders, and people going through a major life shift. On the outside they often look like they have it all together, but inside they may be facing anxiety, burnout, self-doubt, grief, or a sense of feeling stuck. I especially enjoy walking alongside women in midlife as they navigate changing roles, identity, empty nesting, career shifts, or simply rediscovering who they are outside of caring for everyone else. I also offer an affirming space for LGBTQ+ clients and people from all walks of life who want a counselor who values honesty and respect. The clients I connect with most are curious, motivated, and open to new perspectives. You don't need to have all the answers, just a willingness to begin. Whether you're hoping to heal, grow, strengthen your relationships, or feel more like yourself again, we'll work together to help you move from surviving to thriving. The clients I enjoy working with most are curious, motivated, and willing to explore new perspectives. You don't have to have all the answers or know exactly what you need, just a willingness to begin. Whether your goal is healing, personal growth, stronger relationships, or simply feeling more like yourself again, we'll work together to help you move from surviving to thriving.

My treatment methods

Eclectic

I take an eclectic approach to therapy, which means I don't believe there is a one-size-fits-all method for every client. Instead, I thoughtfully integrate evidence-based approaches based on your unique needs, goals, strengths, and life experiences. Depending on what you're working through, I may draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Therapy, mindfulness, trauma-informed practices, and strengths-based approaches. Together, we'll find the strategies that resonate most with you, helping you build practical skills, gain new insights, and create meaningful, lasting change. My goal is to provide therapy that is flexible, collaborative, and personalized—meeting you where you are while helping you move toward where you want to be.
