(she/her)
I’m Dr. Riley Gee (pronounced like the letter “G”), a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in the state of California and a former Division I athlete. I provide specialized therapy for athletes across all levels, with a focus on enhancing mental health and overall well-being, not just performance. As a former elite athlete, I understand the unique challenges athletes face in their training as they also balance other aspects of life. I pair this experience with evidence-based techniques to support athletes in addressing both their mental health and sport performance.
Starting therapy can feel like a big step, especially if it’s your first time or if past experiences didn’t quite click. In our first session, I am gathering information and getting to know you to make sure that we are a good fit to work together. It’s a chance to ask questions, get a sense of my style, and talk through what you’re looking for, no pressure and no commitment required.
I’ve been described by my patients as a straight shooter- compassionate but direct, and focused on helping you move forward. My approach is present-focused, practical, and collaborative. While I absolutely hold space for emotion and reflection, my work is grounded in the belief that therapy should not just be insightful, it should be actionable. We'll focus on building tools, testing them in real life, and adjusting as needed. That said, it’s important to me that therapy feels like a safe, affirming, and respectful space. I want you to feel seen and supported, not judged- especially when things feel difficult. I believe you can be both challenged and encouraged at the same time, and I strive to do both with care. At the core of my work is a strong commitment to social justice, inclusion, and cultural humility and I bring this lens to my work, recognizing how culture, identity, and systems can shape mental health and performance.
I specialize in working with athletes to support their mental health and performance, but you don't have to be an athlete to work with me! Many of my clients are high-achieving individuals, students, performers, or professionals navigating stress, change, or identity challenges. If my straightforward yet supportive approach resonates with you, you’re in the right place.
