LCSW, 5 years of experience
Hi, I’m Madison Steffey, LCSW. I’m a relational, attachment-focused therapist who helps people make sense of their patterns, calm their nervous system, and build relationships that feel safe and steady. I offer a grounded, collaborative space where you can explore your story with curiosity—not judgment—and begin creating the life and connections you want. If you’re longing for clarity, security, or emotional ease, I’m here to support you.
Your first session is about getting to know you—not performing, proving, or having everything figured out. We’ll talk about what brought you in, what you’ve been carrying, and what you hope might feel different. I’ll ask gentle questions about your history, relationships, and current stressors, but only at a pace that feels comfortable. You can expect curiosity, warmth, and no pressure to share more than you’re ready for. We’ll also discuss what therapy might look like—your goals, preferences, boundaries, and what feels supportive for you. By the end, my hope is that you feel heard, grounded, and a little less alone—and that you have a sense of whether I’m the right fit for your healing.
I notice the nuances, the protective parts, the unspoken emotions, and the patterns clients have carried for years. I combine warmth with gentle honesty, helping you feel safe while also moving toward meaningful change. My approach blends attachment science, nervous system work, and practical skills, so sessions feel insightful and applicable to real life.
My ideal client is someone who’s always tried to show up for others, even when their own heart feels heavy. They’ve learned to read the room, soothe conflict, and stay composed—yet inside, they’re carrying anxiety, loneliness, or resentment they rarely voice. They’re thoughtful, self-aware, and emotionally intuitive, but relationships still feel confusing, inconsistent, or painful. They want connection, but they’ve learned to earn love through caretaking, perfectionism, or silence. Deep down, they’re exhausted by trying so hard. They come to therapy because something isn’t adding up anymore— the anxiety, the people-pleasing, the breadcrumb relationships, the guilt around boundaries, the fear of abandonment, or the familiar pull back into patterns they promised themselves they’d never repeat.
I am certified in PCIT through PCIT International. I am also working on my Within Agency Trainer certification. I have 5 years of experience in the model with a diverse range of clients. PCIT is an evidenced based practice that improves parent-child bond and decreases behavior problems.
