New to Grow
I have over 30 years experience in the field of mental health and substance abuse. I have had the privilege of helping adults, adolescents, children, couples, members of LGBTQ+ communities navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, substance abuse, relationship challenges and life's many transitions. My experience spans inpatient, outpatient, detox, and correctional settings, allowing me to support all individuals. My practice is completely telehealth. You will find my space warm and inviting. I think you should come to your sessions relaxed and feel comfortable. I may come in a ponytail and t-shirt. Its all about being the real you and expressing who you are. My cat tries to make an appearance every once in a while, but she is working on improving her boundaries- LOL.
I believe every persons story is unique, which is why I take a compassionate, collaborative approach tailored to your individual needs. Together we will build practical coping skills, deepen self understanding, strengthen resilience, and work toward meaningful lasting growth so you can move forward with greater confidence, hope, and purpose. In our first session I will gather information about what brought you to meet with me, what your goals of therapy are and what we can do together to reach those goals. I will hear your story and gather the necessary background to begin our journey together. I will do everything I can to make you comfortable and as relaxed as possible. Maybe we can laugh a bit too.
I feel that due to my many years of experience I am able to provide the client with the flexibility to hear what it is from a counselor they are looking for. Some clients want a counselor who will listen and gently guide them along their journey. While other clients will come into therapy and want a counselor with a more direct approach who will challenge their thinking. I tend to use with clients a mixture of both who do not know the approach that they are looking for- I will listen and guide you along your journey while gently challenging you to think about some of your thought patterns that may have brought you into therapy to begin with.
I specialize in Substance Use Disorders. I also work with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma, PTSD, couples and family counseling and LGBTQ+ to just name a few. My ideal client would be a client who is open to exploring their feelings honestly, to being challenged to looking at things differently than maybe they have in the past. A client who comes to treatment with a goal in mind that they want to accomplish.
I use a variety of treatment methods as I do not feel there is a "one fits all " method.
