Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Our first session will involve a psychosocial evaluation. This helps me understand your unique story, assess your current needs, and collaboratively set goals for our time together.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I believe that through the therapeutic relationship, hope can be instilled, and that human genuineness, trust, and empowerment give the opportunity for personal growth in whatever life's road presents to you. I feel honored and privileged to join you during your life's journey and encourage you to take back power in your life to make positive changes. The relationship you build with your therapist is the most important aspect of it all I can help you gain more clarity, more understanding, and form a plan of action, but therapy is not a magic pill that erases all issues. I will be there every step of the way if you are up for the challenge to achieve the outcome you want. I am here to share my knowledge with you and help you make your own decisions that are balanced, rational and well explored. Strengthening your own reasoning and decision-making skills will increase your independence and self-esteem. I will also help you learn how to express your feelings and a space to try out new ways of being, thinking and feeling.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

With my experience working with a wide variety of people I am equipped to assess needs and help people develop their own goals for counseling to help them achieve their efforts to thrive. Coming into therapy can be scary and there are a variety of reasons people come to therapy, all I require from clients is the willingness to trust the process and willing to take action to make the changes necessary for positive change in one's life.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I primarily use CBT in my practice and it’s helped dozens of clients challenge reoccurring thoughts and manage their anxiety and depression. We’ll use CBT to recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other. We’ll then use that knowledge to change your thinking patterns, which will help you lead a less anxious and stressed life. I integrate other types of CBT therapies such as DBT, interpersonal, and mindfulness training. I have had years teaching coping skills in a hospital based intensive day treatment program where we taught multiple modes and means of healthy coping and will bring that expertise into the individual counseling sessions with you.

Humanistic

Life's journey is unique to each individual who faces change in many different ways whether it be through death, life changes, divorce or living losses/estrangement. As your therapist, I am a companion that supports you through finding your unique way to carry the grief, embrace change as you learn to move forward in your life.

Trauma Informed Care

Throughout my experience as a therapist I have come to experience that trauma runs through many people's lives through either generational trauma, shock traumas, attachment/betrayal trauma, or medical trauma just to name a few. I have made sure to acquire special continuing education trainings in Polyvagal Theory trauma therapy and ways to work through Complex PTSD or developmental trauma using an eclectic approach based on clients needs and therapeutic goals.
