Hi! I’m a licensed professional counselor based in Huntingdon Valley, PA. Before becoming a therapist, I taught immigrants from over 10 countries. I’ve also taught for a year in Japan, and for 3 months in Ghana, Africa. My approach is non judgmental and compassionate, while helping clients understand the root of the patterns that have caused suffering. I also specialize in helping couples and families learn new communication techniques.
In our first session, I will take the lead - you don’t have to worry. I’ll guide us through what feels like a natural conversation, where we will explore your goals for therapy as well as get a wide sense of where you’ve been and how you got to this place.
I feel that my greatest strengths lie in my ability to help out clients at ease, as well as help them unpack and understand their deeper needs, fears, beliefs and hopes.
I especially enjoy working with couples, as well as with people looking for guidance and support with relationship issues. I am happy to work with people who may be nervous about counseling, feeling unsure what to expect, and who fear feeling judged. I value the opportunity to create a safe space where they will be seen, heard and understood, especially if they haven’t always felt comfortable sharing their feelings.
My approach involves compassion and understanding of how trauma impacts behavior as well as core beliefs about oneself and the world. My work involves helping clients process the emotions and beliefs surrounding past trauma, so that they can more fully embody their true identity and find peace.
I help couples learn to communicate in ways that break old patterns of defensiveness and pain, and teach methods that create enhanced closeness and intimacy,
I help parents and their children who are struggling with communication challenges.
I’ve lead grief groups, as well as worked with individuals experiencing all different levels of grief - from the tragic loss of a loved one, to grief of a life that one envisioned that has now radically changed, to anticipatory grief related to a medical diagnosis.
