Angela Hughes
Angela received her Bachelor's of Science Degree in Psychology from Georgia State University in 2007, Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Georgia in 2012 and became licensed as a Clinical Social Worker in 2015. Angela has over 20 years of experience in the behavioral health field addressing a vast range of psychosocial needs. Angela works in private practice providing consulting, coaching, education, and psychotherapy services. Angela is licensed in North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and has a certificate in Clinical Supervision awarded by the National Association of Social Workers. Angela is also an Adjunct Professor for multiple Social Work undergraduate and graduate programs.
First session
The first session will focus on getting to know one another and beginning the assessment phase. There is no pressure to disclose anything in particular. It will be an opportunity for us to feel each other out and for me to gain a stronger sense of how I can provide impactful support.
Strengths
My approach is raw and relatable. My sessions are un-structured and aimed to be an organic conversation. My focus is on building a genuine and trusting connection with my clients. Once that rapport is built, the work of addressing identified issues naturally occur.
Ideal clients
My services are targeted to black woman ages 25-50. I am a part of this community and recognize the many nuanced experiences and challenges with navigating the world as a black woman. Common issues I address with this community is challenges with self-esteem, lack of support, difficulty with health relationships, pressure of being the "strong" one that carries all of the weight, etc.
