Hi there! My name is Moses, and I am a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with many years of psychiatry experience helping individuals achieve their mental health goals. I work well with clients who are at a crossroad in their lives either because of debilitating anxiety or depression, unremitting ADHD symptoms, worrisome OCD, incapacitating mood issues, and other mental health concerns. I use skillful approach to medication management, provides psychotherapeutic support, and work collaboratively with my clients to help them achieve stability and progress in their mental well-being.
During your session, you can expect to have an environment of trust, empathy, safety, and support. The session will begin with a brief introduction and what goals you intend to achieve in seeking treatment. My goal is to know you, not just your symptoms; and to collaborate with you in developing a personalized treatment plan aimed at improving your emotional and psychological well-being.
I am generally open-minded because I understand every individual is different. Besides, trust, empathy, understanding, and respect are the core principles of my practice. You can expect to get these during your visit with me. I work to build trust and confidence in my patients to enhance their self-coping skills while addressing their mental and emotional health needs.
I have experience working with individuals 14 and above as well as working with diverse group with varied mental health concerns. More specifically, I am especially positioned to help those feeling down, lonely, unappreciated, or those feeling anxious, overwhelmed, and lacking focus and attention. Finally, I am able to support clients who have unresolved traumatic past, students/professionals looking for guidance or support, and individuals looking for help navigating life transitions.
I have been using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help my patients deal with unpleasant internal phenomena causing anxiety, depression, or other mental health problems. One key feature of CBT is cognitive restructuring, which is aimed at changing maladaptive thinking patterns that is often associated with negative feelings and emotions. It is a collaborative process where we work together to identify the root cause of the problem, promote behavioral activation, and problem-solve to arrive at appropriate solutions.
I use supportive therapy to provide encouragement, support and validation to clients during a difficult time in their lives. The goal is to enable you deal with immediate, pressing needs by talking about identified problems in a safe, trusting, and non-judgmental environment while promoting problem-solving and symptom relief.
