I am a licensed mental health counselor with several years of experience in private practice. I have been working with children, teens, adults, couples and families, accompanying my clients in their processes toward achieving higher levels of wellbeing and overall health. I am a mother of two grown women, I have a rescue dog and a cat, and I practice self care by walking outdoors everyday as I listen to music and enjoy nature. I am working on a couple of writing projects that hopefully I’ll share with you in the near future. I specialize in CBT, solution focus, talk therapy, and I apply skills of psycho-drama and play therapy with my youngest clients. I have helped people with anxiety, depression, PTSD, addiction, acculturation issues, grief, academic performance, self-image, relational issues, and LGTBQ advocacy. If you’d like to get more information, please reach out! I hope we can work together towards achieving your wellness goals! For more information please check my website: https://carolinabaldner.com/

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, we will introduce ourselves, and as you feel comfortable, we will explore topics you want to tackle in therapy as well as your personal goals towards self growth. Therapy is a process, so building a strong therapeutic alliance with your therapist is key to achieve success.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I am a strong communicator and working with couples and family systems is one of my strengths. I am also very effective slowly working with people with past trauma that manifests in depression and anxiety. Breaking trauma binds and understanding dysfunctional relationships is a passion in my practice.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

Children over 12 years old, teens, adults, family and/or couples.

Carolina is the best therapist for family crisis. She is really insightful and compassionate, and it shows that she loves working with families. Sometimes you need a miracle to solve some situations, and she is the one that can get those miracles happen! She is working with my whole family (wife and 3 kids) on a situation triggered by my son's addiction, and she has done wonders to help us all cope with it. Thank you Carolina for everything you do, you are amazing.

I had my first appointment with Carolina and I really liked her approach. She is very solution oriented and helps you find the root of the problem. I'll continue my sessions with her.

Great first session! Gave great advice for how to put structure back into my life and how to cope with a panic attack when it comes.

My treatment methods

Psychodynamic

I allow clients to express themselves freely in sessions while actively listening to their narrative to point out at the elements (symbolic or not) that will help him or her gain insight and self reflection. The therapeutic space is a cathartic place where the client will navigate his or her narrative accompanied by my clinical view. I will also employ other techniques and theories such as Adlerian, CBT, family systems, and solution focused therapy to name a few.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use reframing, working through cognitive dissonance and intrusive thoughts with individual and couples who are facing challenging times. Narcissistic abuse, dysfunctional relationships, maladaptive behaviors, and working to get outside of a trauma bond are some of my specialties in systemic work.
