About me

Hi there! I’m Arey Lazarre, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York and Licensed Professional Counselor in New Jersey, with specialized training in perinatal mental health. I work with adults and couples navigating Becoming a therapist gave me the opportunity to create that space while helping clients better understand themselves, strengthen their relationships, and create meaningful change. My work in perinatal mental health has deepened that passion, particularly in supporting individuals and families through pregnancy, postpartum, and parenthood, depression, relationships, pregnancy, postpartum, and major life transitions. My approach is warm, collaborative, and tailored to your unique needs. I’m currently accepting new clients, including daytime appointments.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Our first session is an opportunity for you to share what brings you to therapy at your own pace. We’ll discuss your current concerns, relevant history, and what you hope to gain from therapy. By the end of the session, we’ll begin identifying goals and a direction for our work together.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My greatest strengths are warmth, compassion, and creating a space where clients feel genuinely heard and comfortable being themselves. I balance emotional support with practical strategies, helping clients identify patterns, build on their strengths, and develop tools they can use outside of therapy.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work best with adults and couples navigating anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, pregnancy, postpartum, parenthood, and major life transitions. My ideal client is ready to better understand themselves, recognize patterns that may be holding them back, strengthen coping skills, and make meaningful changes in their life and relationships. I especially enjoy working with clients who are open to self-reflection and willing to take an active role in the therapeutic process.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT to help clients understand how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors influence one another. Together, we identify unhelpful patterns, develop healthier ways of thinking and responding, and build practical coping skills that can be used in everyday life.
