Hi I'm Jennifer. I work with a wide range of therapy clients from children/ teens to end of life. In all my therapy I find that many times unresolved feelings and negative thought patterns come into play. Often the way we learn to communicate and our feelings about ourselves impact our relationships with others. My background is in trauma and attachment. Helping people understand how their unresolved feelings related to trauma affects their current relationships and life is where most of the work is. In couples therapy I focus on identifying what differences in your family of origin are impacting how you see the world and work with you to translate that into working together with your partner to successfully process and integrate your two differing styles. In individual therapy the focus is on identifying what keeps you stuck and how to shift to improve communication, mood, relationships, and have a more positive outlook. I also work with you to identify and work toward your goals, whatever they may be. I work with a solution focused, cognitive behavioral style. I have been trained in TFCBT. I have many years experience and work to find what will work best with you. Change is hard and identifying what is impacting your life and holding you back is where we work together to move forward. I look forward to getting to know you and help you grow and blossom.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
We will explore what challenges you are facing and come up with a plan together on how to move forward.
What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?
We will work on breaking down cognitive distortions, negative thoughts about yourself, and identify where they came from and how they became ingrained. We will work on shedding light onto those cognitive distortions to help build a different self view.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
My strengths lie in getting to the root of the issue. Sometimes this can be uncomfortable but can help make large amounts of progress toward a goal. I am an empathic listener and work to identify hidden beliefs about yourself which hinder progress toward goals.
