I feel that the approach I use allows the client to see real progress through actions and outcomes. I truly enjoy finding strengths and ways to promote things that may have been seen as weaknesses.
I enjoy sharing with others how their experiences and thoughts have shaped who they are today. Knowing and understanding yourself can help to manage and cope with a variety of situations. I enjoy focusing on emotional intelligence and learning new perspectives on how to manage symptoms.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy seeks to make connections between individuals' thoughts, feelings, and beliefs. It allows for an understanding of how these thoughts may have originated and tools to develop positive management of these patterned beliefs. It helps to develop new perspectives to relieve having to hold yourself to past beliefs.
Play therapy can provide many opportunities for children who are not able to or struggle with verbally expressing their feelings through traditional methods. Children are able to learn how to use different tools and techniques to explore how their emotions may affect them as well as being able to learn positive alternatives.
Family therapy gives the family members the opportunity to identify issues, concerns, and conflicts that interfere with the family dynamics. Problem solving and communication skills enhance the understanding of concerns and help to develop positive actions to resolve issues.
Using a strength-based approach allows the person to focus on things they are passionate about and learning ways to integrate this into their daily activities. It provides a direction away from weaknesses and management of symptoms.
