LMHC, 3 years of experience
With over three decades of experience in the social services field, I bring a deep commitment to supporting individuals through complex challenges. In 2015, I returned to academia and earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University in 2022, with a specialization in Trauma and Crisis. My clinical journey began as a therapist at a 16-bed forensic residential facility, where I worked with individuals facing serious mental illnesses and co-occurring disorders. I currently serve on the adolescent unit of a crisis stabilization hospital, providing care in high-acuity environments.
In our initial session, you'll have the opportunity to share information about yourself and explore what goals you may have for therapy. If you're unsure of your goals at this stage, that's completely okay. We can begin by discussing any challenges you're currently facing, and together, we'll develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your unique needs and circumstances.
I create a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel truly seen and heard. My ability to connect deeply allows for meaningful therapeutic relationships built on trust and authenticity. With specialized training in trauma and crisis, I approach each client with sensitivity to their lived experiences. I integrate evidence-based modalities that prioritize emotional safety and empowerment.
I enjoy working with people who are eager to make long-lasting changes but don’t yet have the tools they need. Life is sometimes overwhelming and exhausting. And, when that happens it’s easy to feel lost. I can help you get back on track and focus on regaining your sense of peace and purpose.
I draw from a range of therapeutic techniques, informed by both up-to-date research and my experience, to support your mental health. Instead of adhering to rigid guidelines, we’ll work collaboratively to tailor a treatment plan that reflects your preferences and needs. Some of the common techniques I might use are cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, emotional regulation, acceptance and commitment, or solution-focused. Our goal is your long-term well-being, so we’ll continually adapt and blend different therapies as needed, an approach known to encourage faster recovery and greater overall health. In our first session, we’ll explore your reasons for seeking therapy and, as partners, determine the best paths forward. Throughout our journey, we’ll work side by side to challenge unhelpful thoughts and create meaningful changes in the way you feel.
I provide trauma-informed care in a safe annd nonjudgmental environment to support you so that you can explore your beliefs about the trauma you experienced. I will help you understand your feelings and we’ll develop tools to help you heal to achieve the change you desire.
Positive psychology is strength-focused. I will help you identify your internal strengths and resourcefulness to help you build a life of meaning. This focus sets up a positive mindset that helps you build on your best qualities, find your strengths, improve resilience, and change your worldview to one that is more positive.
