Hi! For over 30 years I have worked in the social services field. In 2015 I returned to college to complete my degree and in 2022, I graduated from Walden University with a masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, with an emphasis in Trauma and Crisis. For the past four years, I have worked for a non-profit in Florida with clients who have severe mental health and substance abuse diagnoses.
In our first session together, I will provide you with the opportunity to share information about yourself and what your goals might be. If you aren't quite sure what your goals are, that's okay too. We can talk about some of the challenges that you face and together we will come up with a treatment plan unique to your situation.
Working with vulnerable populations for over 30 years has taught me about humanity, grace, and second chances. My experiences fine-tuned my ability to empathize with people and make them feel better about themselves.
I have successfully used CBT to help many of my clients. Together we will use CBT to help you understand the connections between your thoughts, feelings, and actions. Armed with that knowledge we’ll work together to change unhelpful thoughts so you can lead less a less stressful and anxious life.
I provide trauma-informed care in a safe annd nonjudgmental environment to support you so that you can explore your beliefs about the trauma you experienced. I will help you understand your feelings and we’ll develop tools to help you heal to achieve the change you desire.
Positive psychology is strength-focused. I will help you identify your internal strengths and resourcefulness to help you build a life of meaning. This focus sets up a positive mindset that helps you build on your best qualities, find your strengths, improve resilience, and change your worldview to one that is more positive.
