As an LMFT, I am trained to look at people as a piece of the puzzle not the entire puzzle. This allows me to understand how all the systems that you interact with impact you on a daily basis. Including looking at how the past has influenced your choices for the present and future. I use several different Evidence Based Practices to assist in changes with my clients and try to customize their treatment to the issues presented during sessions.
During the consult process, we will get to know each other and the history of the person seeking therapy. If the initial consult session is for a couple or family, then after the first session each person will get an individual session to discuss their view of the presenting problems. After the initial session and the individual sessions, we will do a treatment planning session with everyone that will be involved in the therapy process to determine the path of treatment moving forward.
I am direct but caring and warm. I can hold space for you when struggling with something deep or huge. I also try not to waste your time by calling you out on certain things (that's what I mean by direct). I also love teaching skills to my clients so they can see tangible changes in their lives. We all know how to be better but we usually get stuck in the process of change therefore, I feel my job as your therapist is to help you get unstuck and challenge you when your "comfort zone" is pushing against the change.
